Douglas Adams was spot on with the meaning of life.
Unfortunately due to a typesetting error the books give the answer as 42 whereas it was meant to be 4.2 which is the alcohol percentage printed on the labels of the bottles of IPA I've been supping 🍺👍

Brilliant radio series. The joy of your imagination painting the scenery to the characters and scenes provided by Douglas Adams. None of my mates at the time "got" it.
Still love the mice not being experimented upon, but were hyper intelligent pan dimensional beings.

Inside my skull
Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturations are to me, (with big yawning)
As plurdled gabbleblotchits,
in midsummer morning
On a lurgid bee,
That mordiously hath blurted out,
Its earted jurtles, grumbling
Into a rancid festering confectious organ squealer. [drowned out by moaning and screaming]
Now the jurpling slayjid agrocrustles,
Are slurping hagrilly up the axlegrurts,
And living glupules frart and stipulate,
Like jowling meated liverslime,
Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes,
And hooptiously drangle me,
With crinkly bindlewurdles,mashurbitries.
Or else I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon,
See if I don't!

The problem is that the ANSWER .... is .. it's not 42 .....
Only after the Hubble Telescope was launched was the ANSWER found to be 43 ...
The coefficient of expansion of the Universe ....

The Bable Fish .. or the iPhone XS .... as we call it now ...... Real time language translation ... to your wireless ear pods .....

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
I can recite the radio/tv version from memory. I do not recognise this version. Books?
I may have once recited it down the phone to someone in America. (I did not then offer to put my head in a bucket of water for them...)

I well remember how most of my friends would leave the pub early to get home in time for Hitchhiker's. I think it was 11.00pm on Thursdays??

I still have the original series on cassette!! I made copies for my kids when they were old enough to appreciate it.
