Getting old but not past it

I am now 72 years old and the more I look at the way humans behave regarding everything, the more I dislike our race. As humans, we are selfish, greedy and arrogant, just to name a few.
_ Selfish. We think we own this planet and everything that goes with it. We exploit it regardless of its consequences.
_ Greedy. Money is king and controls everything we do regardless of the political state you live under, being capitalist, socialist, communist or totalitarian.
_ Arrogant. Because we have the gift of being intelligent, we are on the edge of our own destruction. We look down on the animal world and have no respect for nature.
My conclusion is that we don't deserve to be here and if we become extinct as a species, it won't be a great loss.
Sorry if I sound really pessimistic but I really feel that way at the moment.

I think we're brilliant, despite our flaws.

To name just one of many attributes are the only species who care about other than our own, we make laws to protect and preserve other life forms which are treated cruelly or in danger of dying out. Animals care only about themselves and their immediate families and couldn't give a fig what happens to anyone or anything else as long as they have food.

Nope, I make no apology for being here and I love it.

Don't worry. Mother nature has ways of sorting the planet, and if it means disposing of the human race, then so be it. That'll teach us!

These "save the planet" folk annoy me, when they really mean "save the human race". The planet will do fine and rejuvenate itself in time. The human race on the other hand, are only here for the blink of an eye in real terms. We won't be missed. Some future species might find us useful when they are extracting our remains out of the ground to fuel their transport 😂.

You haven't lived in Greenock then? And many other areas I could mention!
I love it on this planet too, but I do agree with the OP in that we are destroying the place. There are far too many of us, for starters.

All of those apply to some people, not to all.

And I believe those people to be a minority of the human race overall, but unfortunately that minority have a disproportionate number in positions of power across the world.
