There has been no wind, cycling is fine with the right clothing and, of course, sensible tyres.

We have local flooding so have been taking the car. On one road, last night, we went through 3 patches of flooding in the space of 150 yards and I was very glad that I was in my car.
I don't much like riding in this weather, my knees whinge.

My cycle computer does this. I do like my speed etc. in mph. Sadly it can't cope with that!

I bought what I thought was a decent bike computer once, but when I got it home I discovered it only did kilomillentimeters or whatever the hell they're called, so I had to take the bloody thing back!

Not a Sigma is it? I have the same issue. You either get Farenheit and MPH or Celsius and KMH. That said, it doesn't matter too much - I'm not convinced it's actually that accurate anyway. The water bottle is a much better indicator!

I had that issue with a Sigma - I no longer know how the numbers compare and they're ''in the sun'' temperatures anyway.

Isn't that a good thing? If the thermometer is affected by direct sunlight, then it's telling you what the apparent temperature is, rather than just the ambient "shade" temperature.

One accessory I probably need right now is something to beep loudly at me if I forget to zip up my saddlebag before starting my commute. This morning, I did just that, and in the last 2km of my 27km commute heard things falling out of the saddlebag. I turned around to see what happened, and found that my wallet had fallen out. I put that back in, but then realised I couldn't find the key ring with my house keys, and (more importantly right then) the keys to the shower/locker room and my locker at work. I spent the next few hours sulking in my cycling gear at my work desk, then discovered my key ring had settled to the bottom of my saddlebag where I couldn't immediately see it. Up to then, I'd been making preparations to get a new shower/locker room and locker key, new house keys, etc., and was feeling a bit annoyed with myself .

I was very, very lucky: the wallet might have fallen out some time during the previous 25km and I might not have noticed if I was going downhill with the wind in my ears.

What would be nice is an alarm connected to an accelerometer and to my saddlebag zipper, so that when the zipper is undone *and* the device detects that I'm moving, it will beep loudly at me, as if to say "Zip the bag up, you dopey idiot!"

"all cool" <Rolls eyes> Very good! Same tyres stay on all year round for me. I just take it easy on the corners.

To tell the truth I've no idea whether it would be a good thing or not. The forecasters give the Celsius temperatures in the shade and I've got a good sense of how it feels at a certain temp. I don't get that sense when I'm reading out Fahrenheit in the sun.

Cheap electronic weather stations are readily available and could be adapted to bike use. They would give you a readout of wind speed and direction as well as an indication of altitude from the barometric sensor. Ideally the sensors should be located in a Stevenson's Screen but that would require the use of a bike trailer which might be inconvenient in some applications.
