It's what I've ended up with after doing the walls. That red was just an approximation.Not so much darker as warmer, a red with more orange in it perhaps - those are two very 'cold' colours for a living room @rich p.

The Voice of Reason!Well I like it @rich p. Plain cool walls will be great for all your pictures, and the colour and patterns in rugs and curtains are easy to change when you get fed up with them . (At least you didn't go for woodchip - I'm still struggling with the stripping .)
