I`m doing the Bealach Beag on Sat so leaving home on the Fri. I was thinking of stopping off and cycling up the Lecht on the Fri on the way up.

Is this madness for a 48 yr old bloke who should know better lol

I`m really tempted but it will put on at least 2.5 hrs onto a 5.5hr drive and that`s without climbing the bloody thing - may make Lochcarron by dark if I do it lol

It's tough, with sections of 20%, but doable, just look out for the hand holds!
I'd bet coming back down would be fun

Drove up this in an 1100cc engined Peugeot, 3 adults, loads of luggage. Thought we might have to get out an push at some points!

Would be fantastic riding it. Go for it!!

As you are driving to Lochcarron, surely cycling The Lecht would make a welcome break from the tedium?

It looks a lovely road, but my cycling Spider-sense tells me to watch out for blind-spots, dips, and speeding motorists!

Ah, I wondered what road that was ... A friend of mine had a poster showing that view and I saw it every time I went round to see him but I never asked him about it!
