...or the wheel comes full circle, depending on your view. This latest offering from Mason borrows heavily from the world of mtn biking with full size off road tyres, the potential for a dropper post and 100mm suspension units, whilst combining road geometry, carrying capacity, a dynamo and drop bars.

What do you think. I think it's a pretty specialist offering, very much moving away from the one bike does all, gravel concept.

i've seen this in the flesh it really is a marmite bike and you do a few double takes. The colour is even better close up the bolted on mudguard take some getting use to as for the rest. Well it's not really one thing or the other.

I so wished I'd managed to talk to tgis guy who apparently worked on a local industrial estate....id very occasionally see him passing as I drove to work, on what appeared to be a front sus, hybrid perhaps, high front end so maybe a 29er but fat tyres with drop bars. I thought it looked so cool, not sure if it was a fixed because the bars appeared bare and unwrapped.
Difficult to explain but I really liked the look.

I wish we had had bikes like this when we used to ride Polaris mountain marathons back in the 90s. We rode full rigid XC mountain bikes with noisy, slow 2.3 tyres and later we got suspension forks and we experimented with 1.6 commuter tyres for speed on tarmac sections.

I like Marmite but I don't like that. It seems to combine the worst ugliness of modern road bikes (the thick forks and oversized brake hoods that look like a tumour growing out of the bars) with the weird geometry and general ugliness that is now the norm on full-sus MTBs. And to cap it all, the colour is vile!
