Yup. Us normal folk are off to sleep...
What's "normal"!

So, did anyone actually watch it? The endless waffle had me giving up during the build up and I didn't make it as far as the ceremony. Time difference isn't a great help either.

The fact that they need 80,000 soldiers and 1000's of police to control the locals and a shoot on sight policy for criminal activity says a lot about this giant shoot hole of a country..

no i wont be watching it...pitty the bbc have it on 24 7

I've worked in Brazil for last 3 1/2 years. Mate of mine working there posted this on FB a few weeks ago - a road I've had to travel down to the airport a lot.

Planning on heading to Rio for the Olympics?

My mate & I had to get out of a taxi on a busy motorway and take cover from a hail of bullets being fired at & around us from a nearby Favella yesterday! At least one casualty resulted from this barrage of bullets! ( At 7 in the morning during rush hour I may add!)

Stay at home & watch it on the telly folks!

As for my seafaring colleagues down here....There's only one route to/from the airport, so don't be complacent & be extra vigilant when passing this area in the agency cars!)

Cracking a solo.
I would have liked to have seen it but I'm not going to stop up all night for it. I think it's a bloody disgrace that things like the Olympics and World Cup etc aren't always shown at a resonable hour in the UK, I'm all for letting other continents and nations splurge money they don't have on the things but they should ALWAYS take place at a time that is resonable for us Brits goddammit, bloody foreigners and their time zones!!!!
