Dogtrousers

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I'm back on track. My ankle is still not right, but it's not stopping me from riding my bike. I've been testing it out on some hills on shorter rides and today it got a full fat 100k including some hills. And a dead owl

For various reasons my bike is in snazzy racy form with no mudguards and rack. First time I've ever ridden it like that. It's probably several kg lighter, as it is also missing all the miscellaneous crap that lives in my rack bag. Unfortunately it didn't feel any different and did not, as hoped, fly up the hills.

September in the bag. I've been here and there this month, but managed to fit it in with a week to spare. Knackered ankle seems 90% recovered now. It'll probably just stay at that nagging level now.

Early on in the ride found myself being passed by groups of riders in pink jerseys. I asked them what the event was and they told me it was "Le Cure", a cancer research fundraiser. Their route was a bit similar to my planned route but they were all faster than me so I saw the last of them before we'd really left London. The last group to pass me told me they'd been delayed starting by mechanical problems.

Website on the event is here: https://lecure.org/autumn-classics/le-cure-classic/ I like the route and will definitely ride it in future (having first edited it until it is unrecognisable, probably). Not sure it would be worth actually doing it for real, as I'd be riding the whole thing solo like one of my normal rides once everyone had overtaken me.

The rest of the ride was uneventful. Nice weather, and a welcome bit of coolness in the air.
