I beg to differ, my Austin Mini Seven ours too was a D reg.

Came across a nicely done up and likely souped up mini the other day. Under the bonnet was a work-of-art with various tig welded pipes and polished ally rocker cover and so on. Was going to post it in the classic car thread but more suitable here I think

Min or Min Min is what I call my Mini.

Comes from a Peter Sellers quote: "It's clear, Min, it sounds real cool. Get your woollen crash hat on, I'm taking it out on a trial run"

Incidentally, all Coopers / Cooper S were made at Longbridge regardless of whether they were Morrises or Austins - as denoted by the letter A on the end of the chassis number.

Well I have just purchased a 2018 Mini Cooper 1.5L for the youngest daughter's upcoming birthday. Nice little motor. Only 30k on the clock.
One thig I am trying to look at is how easy / difficult it would be to upgrade the non-touchscreen display to a touchscreen with Apple Carplay. Has anyone done this? Any hints or tips?

I know you can buy something that plugs into the head unit which allows you to display apple car play on the current display - that's one option, but obviously you can't use the apple car play unless you use the phone. I found one company that sells all the bits but it's about £550. Could I get the same bits at a breakers yard for less?

Of course the cheap option is a phone holder with a sucker on and bluetooth audio...

Its an F56, pre LCI, not an easy or cheap job. They all rely on additional modules behind the dash and reprogramming. You're looking at multiple hundreds of pounds whichever brand you choose.

You cant update with an android/carplay from a later LCI model. Something about linbus that the older cars don't have.

My daughters BMW Mini is due for delivery early next month.

I don't know what differences there are between years-its and 1.5 7 speed dual clutch. Is this newer gearbox arrangement or its always been that way.
