You do realise now that, the next time I am in London, I'll have to hire a Boris Bike and try to cycle to every tube station, finishing at Mornington Crescent!
I could start at somewhere like Heathrow Terminal 5 and just work my way through them all.

Anyone fancy joining me? .......actually, it could be an idea for an annual CC event, and we could even do it at night to avoid London's finest!

It'll be epic, I know, but someone's got to do it!

The Mornington Crescent Classic ....who's up for it??

So who wants to join me and what date??

Edit, I have just realised I have spelled the thread title wrongly

I would think this would take a few days! Your talking about an area from Watford to Epping & Upminster down to Croyden. That's quite a large area to cover in one day. However if you do have a go, count me in!

It's a bit more complicated than that...
I can't quite imagine taking a Boris Bike up to Amersham and then down to Chesham...

IIRC, someone recently took 24 hours to travel between every Boris Bike dock, and there is a challenge to travel by tube in a day between all the stations: http://www.tubeforum.co.uk/record_times.html. The best times are up in the 18-hour mark. Allowing for the difference between the speed of a bike and the speed of a tube train, and for the hills and the detours involved in a road route I think you'd be hard pushed to do the lot inside 24 hours.

there's a hell of a lot of them and they go a serious long way outwards in all directions

and on a Boris bike with time constraints

don't sound like fun to me

Ok, so no Boris then - I just thought it would be apt for London.

As for the time, well, I'll see, it could be split up over 2 days instead (I'll actually have to do some research into it).

I'll let you know when I attempt it (unless anyone can come up with a remotely sensible date?).

Thanks for fixing the title by the way Norm!

Barnet,
Not trying to put a dampener on your plans, but, the Piccadilly Line is 33 miles from Cockfosters to Uxbridge, plus the11 miles from Acton to Heathrow. Central line, 34 miles, Ruislip to Epping plus the 12 miles around the Hainualt Loop, District Line, 40 miles Upmimster to Ealing, including the branches to Wimbledon and Richmond, The Northern is 36 miles long including the Bank branch. Then the Metropolitan line is 41 miles long, then you have the Victoria, Bakerloo, Jubilee, The H+C and although Circle is covered by the Met and District as is the waterloo and city by the Nth the distances between some of the outlaying stations may mean you may have to plan for several days to cycle all the stations.

Perhaps you should get DZ to organise a few Friday Night Rides Along a Tube Line - return.

(return allows for doing loops and the like)
