Just discovered this thread, here is my recently purchased Raleigh Stowaway.

The plan is to use it when travelling by train for work.

Here's a picture of it en route to Leeds ...

Hopefully use it for trip to Brussels next month 👍

A few immediately obvious things taken from both: the wraparound tubes at the head tube are straight from a Moulton APB; and that bottom bracket-seat tube-rear pivot point looks like a stock Brompton part! Pity it leaves the chain on the outside, that’s not going to make you popular on the train, and the front disk is very vulnerable to damage.

It looks good and all, but the world is already full of 20" folders that ride well and fold acceptably. Once were past the initial shock/amazement (delete to suit) it offers little that cant already be had for a lot less folding green.

Looks like someone pondered a G-Line and decided to make it more over-engineered.
But with a worse fold.

Nice looking bike! That looks like it's got lot of Intercity in its ancestry! The frame looks identical, as does the folding telescopic steerer tube. Obviously the components are different, v-brakes instead of discs etc.

Looking more closely the seatpost/top tube welds do look slightly different.

In reality it has no Intercity Disc in its ancestry, the ID8 and 9 being nothing more than re-paitned/re-badged Polygon Urbano 2's and 5's respectively.

However, the general silhouette is indeed quite similar. Those wee Stoaways are supposed to be nice machines.

Yet for some unfathomable weird reason, I do really like the look of it. The fold IS pants though. My Tern folds in seconds without all that faff and a tad of just under £1800 shipped is a bit top heavy.

I'm aware of the Urbano / Intercity link. My point the frame tubes look visually identical as does the catch mechanism. The welds differ slightly but still wouldn't surprise me if the Stowaway frames are made in the Polygon factory.

The telescopic folding steerer tube looks like the exact same part as the ID9. Probably a commodity part as very similar ones crop up on Amazon.

I believe the frame comes from Dahon, but don't recall offhand where I read that.

Edit - FWIW AI reckons Raleigh make the frames elsewhere, but licence the design from Dahon.
