Another random, but worthy(?) thought

I'm presently reading Stuart Maconies book 'The Pie At Night' (an excellent follow up to his 'Pies & Prejudice')

The cover depicts, amongst other icons of the north, a Fish & Chip shop bearing the name ...
'Northern Sole'
Given Maconies places of birth, & his vast musical knowledge/career, it's obvious what the referance is - well, to me anyway

I wonder if there is actually one in Wigan??
Who else gets the joke/connection??

Is it on the road to the pier?
I work with someone that genuinely thought Wigan Pier was a seaside one and was most indignant that Wigan wasn't at the seaside anymore.
