Just call me Chris...
It's a bit depressing seeing Winter slowly approaching so how's about listing the positive aspects of a Winter commute?

1) No bl**dy flies

When it's cold you need to eat more cake and drink more tea when you get in :bicycle:

4) You can console yourself with fond memories of summer when..
- it wasn't cold enough to freeze your doodahs off
- you could ride without 6 layers of kit
- it didn't take 20 mins to get ready to leave the house
- you didn't need your bike lights
- other road users could see you and you them more easily
- the road surface wasn't icy (won't be long now...)
- you could commute to and from work in daylight that made you feel almost human
- the rain was a lot warmer
- you didn't need to carry as much weather gear in your bag 'just in case'
- p**ctures were easier to mend because you could see what you were doing
- your bike didn't get a daily clarting in gunge and salt from the road

(Sorry - what was this thread called again?...) :bicycle:

  • The central heating is on at work so your towel / clothes dry quickly
  • You can see traffic lights changing easier so anticpation of green becomes better
  • The warm glow of a toasty helmet / shoes which have been in the boiler room all day
  • Improved visibilty to cars, finally the hi-viz and refelctive strips start doing something
I honestly believe I am more visible in winter, in the summer cars just don't seem to see me. In winter they can't help but see the moving illuminations LOL

+1. I completely agree. However, for me, on my commute it is still dusk and I think that that the worst of both. Roll on the proper dark where I think my bike lights make me less 'invisible'.
