My only Discovery was a 300Tdi/manual/5-seater

I wasn’t a fan of it when l owned it
However, l’d really like a 300Tdi Commercial’!
Like this one seen a few years ago
I’m not fussed about the alloys, prefer it on (Range-Rover/90CSW) ‘Rostyles’

OK lock the thread now! This is it.
Laydees an Gemmun I present the Have Your Cake AND Eat it Car!

BMW 330D GT Xdrive.
Looks and drives like a coupe, load space like an estate.

More litres of load lugging than the Touring. Fold the seats flat and there's over 6' of load space. I'm 6'3 and can lay full length.
Can load a 61cm frame road bike in without removing wheels or dropping saddle.

Super comfy mile muncher. Seats 4 in comfort with loadsa luggage.
Goes like a stabbed rat
Over 50mpg on a long run.
Creamy smooth straight 6 diesel that doesn't sound like a tractor, also Euro 6 so ULEZ compliant
8 speed ZF auto box with seamless auto changes, or if you want some fun: sport mode with either flappy paddles or sequential shifting from the stick.

My most practical vehicle

is this the rural version of a porsche on the shabby council house drive? Car must be worth a many multiples of both your's and your neighbours houses in teh background

This was really a practical car ...

Photo is not mine, but mine was identical. Started off being my firm's car, then six months later, was made redundant and had the chance to buy it for £7k.

Had it from 1990 to 2002, did over 200k miles, had eight seats, and with the seats down could take my bike without taking any wheels off. Got us to France, Italy, Spain and loads of holidays with the kids.

Really missed it when I traded it in for a Zafira, but too many things started to go wrong on it.

my mate had one of those when we were in 6th form, the rest of use were driving mini's chevettes and escorts!
they were hugely practical ad reliable.

Show us your practical car.

To qualify it must be capable of transporting a family of 4 or more, able to transport a chest of drawers to the tip, and comfortably designed so that anyone over the age of 30 doesn't suffer aching hips just looking at it.

I am the final arbiter!

So show us your loverly, wonderful, practical sensiblehess.

mines on the Volvo thread!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
They are good cars, and they do a 'nippy' version too, in the Touring. They were on my shortlist, but a van won me over.

I currently have the touring gr sport which is due for renewal ( awaiting updated price list ) and its nice but next time i will probably opt for the design spec as the price list for last year made the gr about £45 a month more and as long as it has the power boot for mrs ck im not to bothered about anything else .
Economy wise has taken a hit over winter as running the air con overly warm and getting the engine up to temp does mean the hybrid system doesnt kick in as often . In summer i have managed 72 mpg going to work once overall but in winter i would struggle to get close to 60 mpg .

Mrs D's new EX40 Twin Motor Performance arrived today.

Its certainty practical, if your idea of practical includes propelling a family of four and 2 dogs to 100mph quicker than a 911 Carrera car propel a single occupant.
