Ive just remembered what I dislike about armadillos . Fitting them :cursing:
When I was a young 'un, Armadillo was a well kent fortified wine masquerading as a sherry..
It was sold as 'bring your own bottle'...

new tire time?

is it only me who likes hedge cutting and i am currently looking at hedge cutters for the tractor on ebay thinking, 'if only i had '£2-3000'!
also is it only me who is really impressed by the main local hedge cutter as he has got himself a new tractor recently that is only 3 years old!

i don't know, i guess i must be a f***er
Cheers Ed

Well if you do buy that 3 grand hedge cutter maybe you could do us a favour and spend a few quid on one of these to go with it.

Don't worry, the best is yet to come: the sticky compound introduced a few years ago picks up thorns and flints and holds them in place while the road hammers them through over multiple revolutions. That's why I switched to Schwalbe.
What ones ?

nah, i'm helping you determine which are the best tyres! and i'm helping your training plan by giving you necessary rest days like the pro's have ;)

did see a hedge cutter round here recently that has a great big fan/blower mounted underneath it that blows away all the cutting into the ditch and TBH it did seem fairly effective

If speed is important and your bike will take them and nothing wider, the new Schwalbe One seems interesting. I'm riding old steel and chunky alloy, so the Delta Cruiser is a good compromise. The current Marathon seems to be less draggy than the Plus according to reports like http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=89225&p=827831#p827831

I'm also struggling at the moment, 4 flats in the last 3 weeks, I'm running specialized espoir sport black belt 700 x 30 at the moment, only 400 or so miles on them up to now. Have I been unlucky or are these tyres a bit rubbish. Would like something like marathon plus but the tales of rolling resistance put me off, I don't want my commute any harder than necessary. (I'm a new commuter)

I found continental gatorskins the worst . I then switched to specialized armadillos and had very few punctures , I think one or two at the most in about seven months . I then got some free continental grandsport race and the punctures started again so I switched to Schwalbe ultremo ZX and got a puncture straight away .
These are all 23 -25 road bike tyres and although I think the ultremo and grandsport race are the faster tyres I don't think they have that much of an edge over armadillos so I'm back on those for now .
Having said that , this is for my run a bout bike and not my good bike .

i got 700X38c on the hybrid commuter and it's only had one puncture recently, not sure what the cause was though
not ridden the nice roadie for almost a fortnight  due to weather and other commitments so that's not had a chance to go flat

the hybrid tyres are looking rather worn now so am thinking of replacing them for winter, although i don't think i will until they are really wrecked as i need to get my tractor licence in january and then save the pennies for a landy
Cheers Ed
