Cheers .
That sounds like what was described by the optometrist. At the moment I only have the early stages ( floaters ) which is where the vitreous gel is separating in to a watery fluid and collagen strands and it’s this that appears as floaters . Next stage is when the gel collapses completely from the back of the eye and I think that’s when PVD happens with the added risk of a detached retina .
I have to say it has spooked me a little , especially the stern warning that I must contact a professional straight away if anything changes in any way. Especially as I appear to have more floaters today . I think it’s just me looking for them more. ( but I might book a telephone consultation with the local eye casualty just to make sure. )
Cheers again for posting , it’s always good to hear from people that are actually living with a condition. 👍
Look up the symptoms of detached retina.
If any occur, get yourself to the nearest hospital that has an eye department.
Don't even bother with opticians etc.
It will be crucial to get you in for surgery ASAP.
The incidence of detached retina is very low, so don't worry yourself too much.
Have fun watching the light show around the periphery of your vision!
