Morning all :hello:

Last day of the BiLs today.
We're going to Dunster Castle and then having lunch in Dunster.
That should while away most of the day and, hopefully they are going home this afternoon. However, if it was anything like last time, they'll say 'we must be off now' at about 2pm.....and 2 hours later the one will still be droning on, while the other remains taciturn.

A conveniently pre arranged phone call calling you away to help a friend?

Good morning from a cold, wet and miserable Lancashire. Get this. Yesterday the papers were reporting concerns over low reservoir levels and potential drought. This morning we have widespread flood alerts for Lancashire. Do the media think we don't notice. I'm confused by the flood alerts. Yes, it's been raining off and on for several days bu last night and this morning is the only long period of rain. It's been quite gentle rain which easily soaks into the ground.

@Dave7 pleased to hear you have been eating and seem to feel better. @classic33 well done, sir ^_^

Good morning from a grey and damp Dorset. I have caught up a couple of pages, good to hear that @Dave7 is on a ward now, and what a lovely man our Classic is to go and visit😎.
Mrs Tkk has expressed a wish for jasmine plants to adorn our native trellis but our local garden centre doesn't have any. I'm a bit reluctant to try online after reading several accounts of dead and broken plants arriving. Here's the space where Mrs Tkk had her shed. We've had new fencing and trellis and now she wants some climbers. Will put them in pots / planters, all suggestions appreciated 👍

Mrs P grows a range of things in containers very successfully - clematis, passion flower and jasmine. We don't grow but you could add climbing hydrangea and honeysuckle to that list. One of the great advantages of using clematis is the wide range of colour and flowering periods and generally easy pruning. I would choose well established and reliable varieties, those that have been around for decades. e.g Nelly Moser, Clematis montana. Another great plant would be star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides).

Be aware different clematis varieties require different approaches to pruning. It's not difficult but important to get right. I would avoid having different types too close to each other to avoid pruning incorrectly. Google "clematis pruning types."

Well todays the day. 67 years and 14 days. Time to hang up my apron and scissors and let someone else worry about making the sails. I must admit it is a strange feeling and I do feel a little bit lost. I started working in the fields when I was 7 and have never been unemployed. I have never trained for retirement. But I am fit and healthy and so is Jannie and so now is the right time. I have come out for a little moped ride to settle myself down. Do I now relax or find something meaningful to do? 😄

You do whatever you feel like doing on any given day. If you're like me you could find the first couple of days tricky. I simply couldn't get going. All life's urgency had disappeared. By the third day I had forgotten about work until people asked "I bet you miss working?"

Treat yourself to a new bicycle and get out and ride.
