Good morning all.
Ti's wet out there and quite cool.
Can't see me getting my walk in as being in the rain gives me no pleasure.
I 'think' I am off to the pub at lunchtime.
Had my 1st medicine and now I wait 30 mins before I can enjoy my cuppa.

Good morning from a sunny Thurso.
Today's plan of action is after a leisurely breakfast, no early start today, is is get the bus to JOG. Alright, I know I should go by bike, but i am with others, and I did Lejog 30 odd years ago, then a bus to Wick, and then the train back from Wick to Thurso, the last one is 1600.
The Premier Inn is very comfortable and clean and tidy. Very nice.

Good morning. A beautiful bright, clear, cool morning as forecast. It's also forecast to be dull, grey, rain from 09.00. We will see.

I'm feeling grim today. Awful sleep. My watch shows I slept 11.00 to 03.00 and then 05.00 to 07.00. OK six hours but very broken and I don't feel rested.

This afternoon it's u3a card group. With one thing and another on four of the usual twelve can make it today. To avoid the room hire people are coming to ours. This means I need to clean and tidy. I know I don't have to, it's just me. I don't like folk walking into the rather untidy house I'm looking at right now!

Ironing next, then exercises, breakfast and cleaning. Hopefully a quick whizz to Aldi. What a day.

May I ask as I've obviously missed something. Is the purpose of your journey simply to enjoy the travel with like-minded friends, natter, eat and a few beers? Or when you reach the final destination there's an event of some sort?

The original idea was just to travel as far north as we could by train, which is Thurso. And then we added a few extra bits on, ie. going across to Orkney and the bus via JOG and Wick. There is no event at the end.
We enjoy train travel and get to see the scenery on the way.
Last year was a trip on the Settle and Carlisle line.
You'd think after nearly 45 working on the railway, and 7 years retirement I wouldn't want to go anywhere near it, but no, I still love it.

Morning all :hello:

Might get out for a short ride on the Barracuda this morning if my new fuel cap arrives, as promised; if not, it'll be a walk over the Quantocks.
Hope all goes well today for @Drago
Can I mention that I've never yet had an overnight stay in a hospital, ever? Plenty of out patient A&E visits for racing injuries though. I was on first name terms with the A&E team in Redditch during the 1990s.

On my recent hospital stay I spent the 1st 3 days/nights in the A&E corridor. It was like I imagine a 3rd world country to be. I got no sleep.

They've managed slightly better than that for me.

Fortunately the staff have been universally brilliant, even if some of the patients behave like utter pond life. One woman kicked off last night and staff were wonderfully cool in dealing with her - I told the staff I was happy to be a witness on their behalf if the woman made a malicious complaint, which warned me a nice cup of tea.
