We had the quarterly Greyhound "play date" on Saturday. We go to a Dog Obedience site which has a fully enclosed fenced site about the size of two football pitches. The Greys are turned loose and after the usual meet and greet they wander off until one decides that it is time for a run and they are all off. Rinse and repeat. It was about 12C with a very cold north west wind and most dogs and minders were rugged up. Our Dash is wearing her stylish red camo pattern coat in the background. You have to enlarge the photo.

I’m rather fond of Greyhounds and Whippets but not sure the cat would like one.

Morning. Another damp and very humid day here. It feels very oppressive and not encouraging me to do much. Not even any cycling to watch later as it’s a rest day.

About 95% of the Greys offered for adoption have the line in their description
"Not cat tolerant"
I don't know whether you are aware Mo that there is a lot of lobbying atm to ban Greyhound racing in Scotland.

Good morning all.
According to the weather forecast it should be cloudy and raining. But there are blue skys with light wispy cloud. Of course this may well change.
The first of the bin lorries has just come down our road.
MrsP is off to work at the National Animal Welfare Centre, the nurse who replaced her has had a family bereavement so they have asked her if she can cover for the time being..
I have a Doctors appointment this morning, he was not happy with my blood pressure and asked me to keep a log of the readings on an app. No doubt he will probably up the dose a bit.
I'll cycle down there, and afterwards go for a spin for a few miles to keep the legs ticking over.
Enjoy your day everyone ☕️

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
That's tough. I haven't heard of squirrels doing this but equally I only discovered this year it's wood pigeons that nick my gooseberries before they ripen.

Have your squirrels just disappeared?

Yes. They just disappeared. We normally have lots here, but just like the rabbits they are gone. They squirrels eat anything here, even unripe fruit and nuts

Don't the RNLI have a big base at Poole?

Yes they do. It's the main training centre with a couple of bars, an excellent restaurant, conference rooms and accommodation. All open to the Public and the accommodation is not overly expensive. Views from the panoramic balcony are great, our son had his evening wedding reception there and I grabbed this photo from the outside balcony.

There’s a huge pool with wave machines, torrential rain and simulated thunderstorms for " live " training. This has a viewing gallery that is accessible from the road outside if you climb a flight of stairs.

Morning.
A bit stiff and battered this morning after ride yesterday. 51 miles with 5000ft climbing was tough but I felt pretty good. What didn't help was sliding off at a junction. Ouch. A lovely bit of road rash and bruising but fortunately nothing serious. This happened with over 20 miles to go and a stack of climbs but was OK to continue.
Need to check out derailleur and gears this morning as I went down drive side.
One thing though, it all happened so quick there is zero time to react. Once front wheel goes it's curtains. Brings it home how horrific some of the crashes are in pro peloton when they hit the deck doing about 30-40mph when I was going about 10!

Well - Tour watched and SWMBO will need to be worken up in a while - she just doesn;t wake up unless I go up

On a more personal note I am getting worried about my memory
I keep forgetting things - not actually forgetting but the words seem to be behind a barrier and I can;t quite reach them
We watched a new series last night - The Veil (quite good !)
and the lead actress is in another famous series that we have been watching for ages

I could see the series in my mind
I could remember the plaot and characters and all that
I could remember that it was based around Giliad

the name just was behind a veil

I have always been liek this but normlly it is every few days and it comes back after a few minutes
now it is a day or so and happens several times a day

It is only since my TIA (mini stroke) in January

but the doc says the treatment is the same whether there are ongoing symptoms or not

but I am worried what else I will forget

I have told my wife that if I forget her then to finish me off
not worth it without her
she says I am a soppy git!!!

sorry - rather morbid but had to tell someone!
