Been for a short ride before lunch

got rained on

probably was hit by 20 or 30 drops!!!

I went a new route - up past Pex Hill where I often take the grand kids for a walk - and then carried on

in the event I had no clue where I was for a while

but it's OK because I can see what Strava says

except that it didn;t record - did send the message to SWMBO so she could see where I was
but did press the record button - or more likely - I did and it didn't take it
whcih has been happening a bit lately - think my finger is either drier or sweatier!!

anyway - some figureing out on Google Maps will be needed!

Is it true or is it fake news?
I have just read that the government has finally agreed that ALL pensioners will now get free TV licence.
I will believe it when they stop taking money out of my account every 3 months.

Wash the car, then it will rain!

Well, washed the car and the windows, still not raining. Decided it's too hot to cycle. I should get up early and get out before it get to hot, tomorrow maybe.

For many years I have had a strange lump on the back on my ankle
normally it doesn;t have any effect but for the last month or so it has been swollen and painful

anyway - I finally got round to contacting the doctor and asking about it
and - amazingly - got a phone call shortly after (i.e. inside 30 minutes) got a phone call asking if I could come in in 1hour!!

WOW

anyway - turns out it is a bone spur

so - GOOD NEWS - I don;t have to go to Vietnam!!!

Oh - just remembered

On my ride this morning I was pootling around a load of dirt tracks
Hence quite dusty

One bit was a long stretch on a slight downhill - with no-one around

so I let the speed build up and pulled on the back brake hard
and the rear wheel locked and skidded - just for a bit as I was expecting it and released the power

but this is great - for ages I have had problem with that brake not slowing me down as much as it used to

The LBS has looked at it and cleaned the disc and all that
but a few days ago I took it back and said to change the pads on the assumption that I had managed to get some carp on them

and that seems to have made the difference

I know the manager is trying to be helpful and not just changing pads that have a lot of wear on them

but honestly - a few quid for the pads was worth it whether they were the problem or not!
