So the city sent a guy by last week to install a new radio water meter, so they can read the silly thing from their car in the street. Sounds great, except yesterday they called to say it was accidentally installed backwards so they need to come back and “fix” it. So, between now and their visit on October 17 my water meter is running backwards. Does this mean I’m making water? Can I charge the city for said water? Are we on to something here? What if I swap the wires on my electrical meter? Have we just solved the world’s energy issue!

Finally getting a sparky to look at my so called smart meter tomorrow. So I've just spent a couple of hours cleaning out the cupboard it lives in. Totally knackered now. The meter hasn't actually communicated with the Internweb since it was installed about seven years ago, nice to see Scottish power are so on the ball. Hopefully this should fix it.
I'll be interested in this. Our smart meter failed to connect for several years. After a lot of digging for information I discovered it had nothing to do with the meter. The problem in our area, many local villages suffered this, was the DCC network wasn't connecting meters to the network to transmit the information. Until the network improved no amount of fiddling would work.

Our little home display unit has never displayed anything. I must find it and try again some day.

Barnet,
Another good day out if a bit windy and damp.
We ended up at Seaton and took a ride on the tramway.

Got a smart meter last November. Fortunately, it has worked flawlessly from the day it was installed. I used the home display for a while but eventually just shoved it in a cupboard. You can get a bit paranoid watching it all the time.

TBH I have not checked mine since it was installed. Had what I consider more important things on my mind.

One in & one out (no, not the farcical one in the news!)

Earbuds turned up at the front door (they are nice, too). So, one electrical item in.

Kettle decided to go on the blink and was slung out the back door - £70 of Bosch rubbish. And, one electrical item out.

Such excitement!

I just hated** the Warrington one.
**past tense as its so long since I was dragged in.
As Baldy says.... its the entrance to hell.
Strangely my wife's sister and (late) hubby used to love it....... it was a sort of monthly day out for them.

I remember the one in Ashton-u-Lyne and I was surprised to find that it had several floors and you could just go direct to the floor with the stuff you wanted
It was build a long time after the Warrington one and I presume they asked people what they thought and got rid of the "you will go where we want not where you want" concept

FFS!!!

just seen a thing on Facebook asking for people to turn up to a protest at the local HillCrest hotel

FOR OUR CHILDREN

well we all know what that is about

thing is - the hotel has had to issue a statement saying that they are a fully trading hotel offering good accomodation to travelers

AND DOES NOT AND NEVER HAS HOUSED ANY IMMIGRANTS!!

this is just how it goes
a couple of people were talking in the pub
decided that this hotel is not as good as it used to be and we don;t know anyone that has stayed there
(well - you won;t - you live here!!!)
and they go home and put it on Facebook

and now a national "organisation" is arranging a protest on Saturday

Honestly - people

(MODS _ not intended to be political - just that people in general can be dumb!!!)

Legs are very stiff today

I'm blaming a ride yesterday and it were a tad windy

now it is an ebike and I cheated by putting the assist level up to Tour (level 2 out of 4) for part of the ride out

and it is a faster ride - i.e. 90% roads rather than 90% tracks - so I reckon my legs did more work that usual

had a bath to help and it has a bit - but getting up from the sofa is painful!
