Observation from the trash and treasure stall - those lead crystal cut glass bowls that many women desired fifty years ago are no longer desirable items!

Spring Downunda - these Bird of Paradise bushes were here when we bought the house in 1978. Originally from South Africa they are very popular in Melbourne and are all putting out a great show this year after a rather wet winter.

Barnet,
Good morning all. A chilly start to the day here, down to 2⁰ overnight. They are giving out cold weather warnings on the weather forecasts. Are we now so soft that we need warnings of cold weather when it's November and nearly winter?
All the cats and the dog have been fed, I now have a steaming mug of tea in my hand.
The first of the bin lorries has been down our road.
I've got a few domestics to do today, that will keep me busy for a bit.
MrsP will be back from Canterbury this evening, so I'll be on taxi duty to pick her up from the station.

Good morning from a cold but soon to be sunny Dorset. For whatever reason I was convinced that yesterday was Monday, it was only when I switched the telly on to watch the Monday night quizzes that I realised it was Sunday. 🤔
I listed a few items on Ebay yesterday afternoon and one item sold in minutes so I probably underpriced it Will drop it off at the Post Office later on my way to Screwfix. The weather having turned colder I shall try out my new warm jacket, one of those with the down filling that Mrs Tkk purchased for me after putting the original through the washing machine 🤔

Morning all :hello:

Off to Minehead for some shopping this morning.

Its probably very difficult to make decent money via the traditional retail model in a bike shop.

Look at how people regard car dealers. Ita a rip off, a con, say the people who couldn't themselves change a wiper blade and then get uppity when someone runnjng a business intending to make a profit wants paying to do it for them.

And most adults, despite the moaning, rightly or wronly regard a car as essential and grudgingly pay.

So imagine whatnit must be like in a bike shop, where manufacturers in recent years have repositioned themselves as makers of expensive lifestyle accessories rather and as providers of a means of transport. I fear thwt even the world's greatest Eric Pickles impersonator will eventually fail and the company will fold.

I do bicycle repairs for local folk but don't ask for or charge for labour, only for parts. Keeps me occupied at times. On most occasions people pay for the parts and add a decent sum on top for my time.
There's no bicycle shops around here within about 15 miles.
I reckon I could make a living at it if I advertised.

Morning all......a cold one innit.
Sat up last night watching an old film i had recorded by accident......Die Hard. I was going to delete it but decided to try it. It was corny but good.
The result of sitting up to watch that film is that I am knackered.
Its my DiLs birthday. They live nr Nottingham and have hired a canal boat for the week. My daughter and SiL are going with them (and taking the 2 dogs).....it will be quiet around here.
