Mrs Tkk attended the walk leaders group meeting at lunchtime. As expected the Council are going to stop supporting it. By support they mean advertising that the walks take place, their locations and times. The walk leaders have decided that the walks will continue on an ad hoc basis, but without the form filling.
In other news I modified our room thermostat which always reads 1 degree higher than it really is. The stat was set to 22 degrees as we keep the house at a constant 21, a minor niggle but I took the cover off, found the Thermistor which was on a short flying lead and moved it so it sits just outside the body of the thermostat and away from the influence of the pretty blue LED that was causing the issue. ( I'll probably have to move it back when Mrs Tkk spots the short length of cable sticking out the bottom of the unit 🤔 )

Has the group been given a reason? Chorley BC are pretty good at promoting local initiatives of this sort. I'd like to be aware of potential future issues to keep an eye out for.

" No Money " is the message that came across. Bournemouth and Christchurch have both stopped their support and Poole have followed. Originally they publicised and help set up the various groups, providing " Walk Leader " Training for volunteers. Mrs Tkk has to taake a roster of names of the people who turn up for the walks, do a short " Don't trip over in the woods " type safety briefing and make sure everyone got back ok ( This is why I was originally co -opted, as a sort of " sweeper / tail end charlie ". After the walk everyone piled in to the Church Hall for coffee and a biscuit post walk. It wasn't my doing, honest, but now the vast majority go to the pub instead 😉
Mrs Tkk had to send a copy of the walk roster to the council, and fill in a sheet if anyone came a cropper. We routinly get double figures, sometimes in the 20's. Some recently bereaved, some struggling a bit in life, and mostly just a natter and a bit of fresh air. Recently there seems to be a romance blossoming between a couple of the regulars, lovely to see ❤️

Just seen another majr News story

apparently the cost of sprouts has gone up massively

which is confusing as I just bought a packet of sprouts from Tesco for 15p each
each packet - not each sprout

I did notice that peeled sprouts were massively more expensive - but that are not that difficult to peel!

Sad as that is and we'll done Mrs TKK for doing this but I would think long and hard before doing so.
If, god forbid, someone eg trips and breaks an ankle then all friendship can so easily go out of the window. If that happened and they decided to sue your good lady she could find herself in serious trouble.
As a Co Director responsible for the lads on site** I know some of the possible pitfalls.
Sorry if this sounds doom n gloom but sadly that's the world we live in.
**a lad did sue me/the company and won. We bought him beer and a meal the night before a job....... his solicitor said we were encouraging him to drink. It cost us (I think) £4K to get rid of him.

Did a longish run up the trail earlier today. Sunny and a gentle breeze, the recent high winds brought down a few shallow rooted trees and the council had been doing some preemptive tidying. It doesn't take long for nature to start re establishing itself, this fungal growth caught my eye.
