A cloudy day in prospect with a bit of a breeze.
A domestics type of day, and I may have to go out on the bike for some essentials later on.

Good morning all, a drizzly Dorset at the moment but it's due to taper off before I head out on my walk. Local schools go back today/tomorrow and a new schedule next week as daughter has a new job so I'll be collecting granddaughter from school one day a week on a regular basis.

I failed to get a haircut yesterday, all the little darlings were in having their back to school fancy cuts, so was too busy, I didn't fancy a longish wait.
I might try again today.

School starts today locally, and the traffic was already considerably heavier than yesterday FFS.

There is a piece jn our local chipwrapper. Some promised new school isnt goingmto being built as with falling pupil numbers there is no business case for it any more. People are whinging their little darlings now face a 2 mile walk to school! What is wrong with young, fit and healthy people takjng 35 minutes moderate exercise at each end of the day. When I was young I had a 3 mile walk, often in the dark (in December dawn isnt until after 9am in Shetland) just to get to the bus stop for the bus to school at Sandwick, and no one batted an eyelid. It took me about 45 minutes and it was completely normal and natural that everyone would walk some or all of the way to school. We've turned into a nation of lazy, polluting, danger causing, self entitled arses [Rant Mode OFF]

Anyway, Q day planned. Usual housework, a bit of work on the kit bass im building, some washing, nothing hectic.

Bit overcast and breezy but bike ride is on the plan. Hopefully things I ordered for new bike will arrive today so I can set up a few things.
Later be picking youngest up as her car in garage for service.

OH so, so true. Everyone wants a diagnosis of their dears being on the spectrum to explain their bad behaviour.
What's missing today is any sort of resilience in the population and their offspring.
Life can be shite , get over it and stop thinking life should be perfect. After 83 years I can tell you its not but still worth living.

Mini D#4 is autistic, quite profoundly so to the point that instead of downsizing at my age I've actually bought a bigger house as it seems likely she may struggle to live independently as an adult.

But physically theres nothing wrong with her and she walks the 3/4 mile to school while kids living within sight of the school building get driven in.

It's grandson's first day in big school today. Unfortunately, there's no safe route for him to cycle to & from the village. He, as in junior school, will get dropped off about ½ a mile away and walk the rest. Similar for picking him up.

When I were a lad, I walked several miles there & back.. Uphill in both directions.. Blizzards, hail, tornadoes.. And that was in June! Winters were even worse.. I survived, though, and it made me the man I wish i was today 💪

When I was teachering one of the pupils lived in the next town down the coast
she could have got the bus in and out
but she always walked - said she preferred walking and it kept her fit
did it no matter what the weather

took her about 90 minutes each way

normally I would be worried about things like bullying on the bus etc
but not with this girl - no-one was brave or dumb enough to try to bully her!


She wanted to join the Army and drive a tank - if she did then Russia should be lucky they only picked on Afghanistan and Ukraine (plus a few others) if they had picked on us and we sent her with her tank they would have been destroyed!!!

School holidays i book an early slot which seems to avoid the little darlings.
Anyway, on important notes. I suddenly went very tired so 07.30 I was in bed and fast asleep.
I feel better now and the bedding is busy getting swished around in the machine.
Cleaner is now coming at 09.00 which suits me as I can be walking by 09.30.
