I love that. All that effort using carbon to make it stiff and light, then then creating joins to add weight and introduce movement, no matter how minute.

Its a good trade off imo......minimum extra weight for those options.
Its still a light weight bike.

If I were that concerned Id just get bars that fit. Its not as if you're going to need to adjust them once you have the correct size. Your shoulders dont become wider between rides.

Like much of the industry these days the desperate drive to be innovative brings about, for the most part, pointless answers to questions no one had been asking.

Not necessarily. Can alter width depending upon function be it endurance rides or race maybe. Also be a help if ever wanted to sell. There's zero movement, each side held by two bolts. Weight? Grams difference so negligible.
However for me the big plus is when I travel. This bike due to removable bars means even though it has an integrated cockpit it'll fit in my existing bike box and no need to disconnect brake hoses and associated faff of bleeding brakes at destination etc.

Anyway I think it's an excellent idea. Likewise downtube storage

So the very manufacturer that fits non adjustable cut-to-size aero seat posts to some models is going the opposite way with handlebars on others. The logic cant apply to both.

Your musculoskeletal geometry and the biomechanics of your breathing dont change with the type of riding. Youre either comfortable/efficient (delete to preference) or you're not.

I have to say normally I would agree with Drago about desperate innovation but in this case I think it’s a really clever idea as most of us ride with a width that’s ‘ ok ‘ and ‘ good enough’ unless we have had a bike fit . This allows you to get the width spot on with out having to change the bars . 😀

Good to see someone understands.

I'll add you can get fixed width bars from Canyon if you so desire but for my needs these are brilliant.

You seem determined to make a negative out of this for some reason. If you want a bike with a fixed width handlebar you can get one.
Having the option to alter it for the various reasons I've already stated can only be a positive.
