Never click on links or use the contact number sent in an email, use the number you know is genuine. You may occasionally get a real email from companies you deal with but easier just to treat them all as scams.

When I volunteer with AgeUK I often tell people that exact thing - and show then a sample scam email I got a while ago that has dodgy links

problem with this is that Virgin are "rather reluctant" to give out a phone number to ring to confirm
and they AI type "help system" doesn;t have a category for "did you send this or not and is there anything wrong with my TV box"
and typing anything like that in just confuses it!!!

so I can see why people end up clicking on it!

I have logged it as a complain as that was the only way I could see of getting through to them!
