Getting old but not past it

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me , happy birthday........ ok, that's enough for now. I was born at 6.30 am way back in 1950 but don't feel any older from when I was 75 yesterday.
My son is taking me for a meal on Anglesey later , with both our wives of course and it is a very nice day today, blue sky and sunny.
Au revoir for now.

Well it's a bit more overcast today, but still. Man came about the solar panels, recons I can get 12 on a just about directly south facing roof and they should produce 4-5000KWh of electricity. The thing I found puzzling was they use the information on your last energy statement and for some inexplicable reason they've estimated my electric consumption at just over 600KWh annually whereas I've actually use just under 1500KWh in the year I've been with them, would love to know how they come up with that, I suspect it's some computer generated number because even the average primary school kid could add the numbers together and come up with the right answer, so he worked the savings out on that but also the 18p unit rate rather than the 30p it will be in a week or so. Anyway upshot is it should drastically reduce my energy bill over the year.

I seem to remember that they have to use data based on specific requirement
ratehr than using what data they want
because before that some dodgy companies used data that made them look better - rather than data with a connection to reality
so they made companies use the same thing
which works for some - but it rubbish to others

In our case - we have just had a phone call back from our installer from several years ago

I asked them if it was possible to change our system
a) to allow us to use the batteries in the case of a power cut/failure/destruction
apparently this require a "gateway" so he is letting us know the price
b) to increase battery storage so we can get more advantage from the sun (not the newspaper) and from off-peak charging tariffs
c) add some extra panels to the front - which is pretty North West facing but has clear sight of the sun even when it is low down

apparently the batteries are available - but his comment was that he might get lucky but it might be easier to find The Holy Grail!!!

still - he is sending us a price

I wasn't to worried about the data the solar company were using, I understand they have to use the energy companies estimate and current price, it was more how could the energy company be so far out on their annual estimate when they have a full years consumption right there in front of them. Big difference between 600KWH they estimate and 1500KWh I've actually used this past year. The battery their installing is a stackable one, seemingly you can stack up to 6 giving you nearly 31KWh, I'm quite a low user just not quite as low as the company estimates so I'll see how I get on with one and if I need another by all accounts it's quite a simple process to add another.

Slept late as I binge watched the latest series of " Slow Horses " and didn't get to bed till gone midnight 😳.
Washing done and about to go out on the line, porridge eaten and yet to have my first coffee of the day.

I have a 3 month trial of Apple TV and thought about giving that a try. Presume you enjoyed it then?
