I can't argue with the notion of society recognising the contributions people make to said society but I really can't get excited by the honours lists that the media make great play of.

Camilla gets top Scottish title is a joke too. Basically, rich girlfriend bangs heir to throne throughout their respective previous marriages and gets a 'reward' as that's how things work in the Ruritanian world of royalty and the 'upper classes'.

I best stop there.

I take very little notice of royalty

I think the whole awards thing needs done away with to be honest, apart from maybe some sort of recognition for something exceptional like outstanding bravery, etc. Why on earth do actors, footballers, etc get recognition for just doing something they get well paid for?

It should be for people that do over and above there normal lives without payment of any sorts

Someone told me that the Ted-X channel on YT had some interesting content.

Watched two and not impressed.

First was the four stages of retirement, topical and I gave it a go. It was very low-brow and felt like a simplistic theory that had been forcibly retro-fitted onto the users experiences.

Second was the transactional nature of sex leading to sexless marriages. Interesting as we know of several. This started ok but didn't go deep enough and felt very lightweight.

Can't say I would recommend this channel.

Are any other retirees YT consumers? What do you tend to watch in the years as you approach your dotage?

Main content here, all things cycling, climbing especially Via Ferrata, car construction & test drives, music, travel, science esp' quantum mechanics and finance.

Just thought this would make a change from what we are eating!

Started young, and still going.
Location
Barnet,
It's very warm and humid today. There are thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for all day tomorrow.
I bought a piece of cod at the fishmonger, it is a reasonable size and we will probably get two meals from it, but it did cost me £18 though.😳
I also got some Parma ham to wrap around the fillets, plus it will go with new potatoes, green beans, tomatoes and mushrooms. :hungry:

I wonder how much a trawler man gets for a whole cod ?
