I have risen!

A disturbed night as it seems Bruce has kennel cough. I took him into the front room so Mrs D could get some rest.

Apart from the lack of sleep I'm a bit narked because he's jabbed, but like the flue jab it won't protect against all strains. Other than that he seems OK fortunately so it's just a case of letting him rest and confining him to barracks for a few days or week or so until he recovers. A ballache.

:hello: Good morning from a bright and sunny Coventry, it's going to be a busy morning, our eldest is arriving later and is staying for a few days, I'll have to pick him up from the station when he arrives and before that I've a birthday cake to pick up.

Right - just caught up with this thread

We have had thunder yesterday and today - not a lot but some and we followed it on the relevant websites
yesterday we also had biblical rain for a while - gutters totally overflowed causing a waterfall outside the patio doors - which is OK because last time that happened it was outside next door's back door - which the use all the time (why the builders built it like that I have no idea!)

Anyway - after getting rid of the kids yesterday lunchtime we both decided we needed a wee drinky to recover

this morning I came down to SWMBO asleep on the sofa and 2 empty wine bottle (one red and one white) in the kitchen!!!

anyway I knew there was a good reason I was planning to go out on my bike this morning.
After I woke up I checked the weather and got out about 11 ish and went for a nice ride around the canals - only about 3 boats out which seems a low number for a sunny Sunday
Managed to avoid any rain but the clouds were gathering when I got home

That is a really good ride - first one in 6 weeks or so due to the "broken arm" situation and it is still stiff in some ways so I was worried how it would stand up - but it was mostly fine and only complained a bit
However it still will not go straight properly - physio appointemtn is apparently in the post!

anyway - got about half way round the ride and suddenly remembered - I planned to go to the Daresbury Steam Fair which is just a mile or so from my normal ride - but I was not really equipped to go
main thing missing was a decent lock to be able to leave my bike - I had a small combination one but I was not leaving an ebike tied up in an areas with loads of people with a lock that could be easily opened/broken by anyone with an knowledge and intent at all

also - no bag to carry the battery - hence bike would be an obvious ebike

so I just di the ride

still - must look up othr STeam Fairs in the locality - I'm sure SWMBO would love to be able to come with me!!

You could have walked around daresbury with your bike, we went last year, plenty of space

Morning all.
Well despite being under the car yesterday, my back has survived, maybe all the press ups and squats are helping.
Rest of the days plans may be scuppered as its just started to rain, so may persuade swmbo to go for a dirty KFC and wander around b&q and halfords to look at tools I don't need.

Speaking of KFC, last time we went (it's my one real vice) I did the usual old man groan as I sat down, and a member of staff ran up to ask if I was OK 🤣
I must look old these days as well as feel it

I am beginning to detest funerals.
Having gone thro all that for my wife's I now have to sort the aunties out......and she isn't even dead yet.
She is 98 and fading but has it in mind that she gave my wife a l/s towards it. No receipt but in the back of my mind there was a figure mentioned. I could act dumb but that is just not right......so I have just paid the amount I have in mind.
Everyone (relatives, funeral home etc) are happy. Apart from me of course 😗

Looks like we are going to have to cancel our Whitley Bay break - weather forecast looking utterly crap. Grrr!

We'll see what it looks like tomorrow and then make a decision.

One of the reasons we use AirBnB - we will get all of our money back right up until day before cancellation; this guarantee applies on a lot of their bookings these days.
