Blimey, just been reading in our local chipwrapper that 40 lorries were stopped and checked by the police in a recent operation, but only 19 were legal and compliant in every way. The rest had shizzle such as dangerous defects, no insurance, no licence, one driver stoned off his face, dangerous loads carried without the legally required documentation. Frightening stat that over half don't think the law applies to them.

well this is a good insight to others and how they spend their "golden Time"................................for my part

I retired from my FE lecturers position 26 years ago ( mechanical/auto engineering ) .....I was 50 at the time and had had enough after 28 years.....I did run my own photography business at weekends for 16 years after that ( weddings and portraits )...but I have been a totally free man for the last 10-11 years. I have cycled all my life in various degrees of enthusiasm ...and I have also drawn and painted all my life too.....so the logical thing is to combine the two.....which I have done for decades......... on me bike sketchbook and paints in the rucksack and off we jolly well go....not forgetting the butties, my harmonica , and sweets...........as a consequence I have dozens of sketch books filled with doodles from holidays ( abroad ) and local rides etc etc.....nobody ever sees them ....but they do see and sometimes buy my larger pieces of work , which pays for cycle bits n bobs and more pencils and paints......... a couple of pages from my current sketchbook are enclosed ...also my avatar is a section from a recent full size painting after a recent holiday in Crete.

In case I get bored I also make and play Cigar box guitars ( think SeaSick Steve ) ...as well as adding to my CD collection ( rock mainly ) Oo I also play ukulele too.

interesting thread ....Rock On
