Morning folks :okay: its not raining  which doesnt help me on my usual 30m route as the river will be flooded mid point and the road unpassable... will have to do some repeat hill climbing to keep the momentum going on strengthening the old legs. Found out the motorcyclist survived without any life changing injuries-he's a lucky guy!

Hello all

Early for me but the weather seems good so I might just get out for a ride again
Thought that if I say so on here it might make me actually do it!

ANyway - mowed the lawn yesterday so that's done - hopefully it'll be OK for the next few months
In the old days it would last all winter now
Bloomin' Climate Change!

Oh - funny thing - got chatting to the bloke next door while I was mowing the front lawn
He commented - not moaned - that our gutters that run along his side of our house were overflowing outside his back door again
It was while we were away so we didn;t see - although I do check whenever we get heavy rain

anyway - he works in the building trade so had the ladders and stuff so went up to check
He found that there was a blockage in the gutter that was causing the problem

The blockage was caused by a pair of prescription tortoise shell framed glasses!!
He reckons a Magpie (we have lots of them around here) must have nicked them from someone's garden over the summer and left them on my roof - where they got washed down into the gutter

No idea where they came from - but they are scratched to Hell and back so not much point in trying to return them!

Now I have the image of a short sighted magpie muttering " where did I leave my glasses " 🤔

Right went for a ride - 20 miles ish and now have had lunch - remains of a Pork Pie from Tesco

Funny thing happened on the ride

I was going along the Sankey Canal (first in the country - now unused) which leads from Warrington to Widnes - so nice and flat and the path has been improved recently so is wide and well surfaced
I came up to a slight bend with a high set of trees/bushes along the left - and the canal on the right
I noticed a older man riding towards me - sitting on his bike in that way that has no weight on the bars except for his hands - so going pretty slow - and wearing dark glasses when it is cloudy so might have eyesight problems - he was sensibly riding on his left so I moved to my left so we could pass easily
As I approached him a bloke on a road bike appeard - he was passing the older bloke and hence on the right (to him - left to me) side and hence we were hidden from each other by the bushes
I noticed that he was moving quite fast - faster then me an I was going faster than most due to the old ebike thing -
AND had his hand on the bars but in the middle - not near the brakes!!!!!!!
we were headed straight for each other!!!!!

luckily I managed to swerve to my right and the older bloke slowed down so all was OK - but it was close

Funny thing was that as soon as the bloke on the rod bike saw me he said
engage high pitched voice
"Oh Noooooo" - honestly it sounded just like it would if Peppa Pig had said it!!
really weird - and just a strange response

I've been to the dentist and it was all free :hyper: yes I have found an NHS dentist at last I was very pleased until I got back to the car
on the windscreen was a fixed pentily notice £35....... I didn't read the "permit holders only sign" that was 20 yards down the road and I didn't know the area.
The thing I hate is that £35 to someone on £35,000 + a year is sod all, to me that could be nearly a weeks shopping.
Beans on toast all next week then

Morning. We have a dry day in prospect and quite warm. Better make the most of it as a bit more rain due tomorrow.

I keep swapping pillows and still can’t find the perfect one. Getting a fair bit of neck pain which often ends up as a headache later. The best for the neck pain is the Tempur shaped one but I find it a bit hard. The microfibre and down ones I have are softer but make my neck worse.

We bought new pillows a while back, bloody expensive things.

Learned that pillows are different for back sleepers and side sleepers!

We are both sidies here.

Me too. I only occasionally lie on my back for a few minutes but probably sleep nearly 70% on my right side and 30% on the left.

I only had a short wander this afternoon then had a little lie down as my sore neck had turned into a headache. Bit better now. It’ll be back to the Tempur pillow tonight even if it hurts my lugs
