Explorers now: 14-18yr olds.
I ran a unit for 10 years. Got far too popular & hard work!!
(but a lot of fun: both ours went through it, both to Gold DofE, nice day at Buckingham Palace for one of them!)
DofE can continue to age 25 though - Network Scouts for over 18s
The Scout Association isn't the only scouting group in the UK.

Used to spend 6 nights a week at various local Scout groups helping out, and as the warden on the local Scout camp site over the weekend.

It’s also not the only way to take part in DofE, which is a good way to get young people “doing stuff”, in my opinion 👍

I must have done ten years as well, first as AVL then as VL that was last century.

Good morning. Wet, grey, cold. Forecast was dry, sunny, warm. Yesterday was difficult. Minding a 4 year old can be tricky. She didn't do anything wrong or naughty but the afternoon was full of drama, difficulty and trauma - well trauma if you're four. We went to the local park to see the guinea pigs and rabbits in the pet corner. Closed. No guinea pigs. Floods of tears. We had a whole series of this sort of thing. It's very hard when you're four! By 7.00pm granddad was exhausted. I cancelled my ride plans for today and went to bed at 8.45! Feeling much better this morning and given the cr@p weather pleased I cancelled my ride.

Today? I have to make some decisions about my PI claim. The medical reports show a 100% recovery. I know this isn't true of my knee. I've learned one thing, it's wise to be very careful with the words one uses with clinical people in this situation. Telling an NHS physiotherapist I felt there had been significant progress since the previous session has been noted as 100% improvement. C'est la vie. Aside from this thorny issue I'll do the housework and if we get the promised sunny afternoon some work on my allotment.
