Oh yes - and its our wedding aniversary today so must wrap the present and write the card before SWMBO gets up

I think this is our 5th

score so far is
me remembering all 5
her - well so far 1 - and I suspect this year will not be increasing it to 2

wonder how many I need to get ahead before I will be able to get away with forgetting one???

Good morning from a breezy beautiful but cool Lancashire.......cool Lancashire, we're all super cool in Lancashire. Happy Anniversary @ebikeerwidnes 🍾🥂

Today is a walking day. We're heading off to Ribchester for a walk with friends, picnic and later tea and cake in my favourite cafe - The Potters Barn. Next I need to make the picnic and finish the ironing then jobs are done for the day. I have to contemplate our tea but that's likely to be nowt more than a root around in the freezer.

Seeing mention of Curry's we bought a new cooker from them yesterday including installation and recycling of the old one. Expensive isnt the word!!! It arrives on Thursday. I have to say the service I got from the guy I spoke to online was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Football is revving up locally. We live roughly halfway between Preston and Blackburn. Local loyalties are split, 25% nobenders PNE and 75% Rovers. HUGE local derby at Deepdale tomorrow and the banter is fierce already. Rovers 64 points, 6th and PNE 62 points, 11th. I am nervous, very, very nervous. My eldest is in Dublin on my youngest son's stag weekend. He says he's glad he can't go with us tomorrow.

Yay! Tis Fish Friday
Best mates are coming over from Minehead at lunchtime and we'll all have a stroll down into Watchet for F&C and cider in Pebbles Tavern.
Best mates missus's birthday today - so the treats on us.

QUick rant - sorry

We had a problem with the kettle -which is clearly an essential part of the kitchen!!
Basically it is only 6-6 months old but keeps switching off after it is switched on - not properly switching off but just stopping - then starting again
or not in which case it would start again with some fiddling
clearly faulty and possibly not totally safe!

Anyway - we knew it came from Currys - not 100% sure which branch though and we couldn;t find the receipt
But whatever - I went to the one that we go to the most (Speke) and explained
Bloke at Curtomer Service asked if it came from Currys
Yes
Checked everything registered on our postcode - found a kettle from 4 months ago - made by Brevil and hence our Russel Hobbs kettle was clearly not from them!!
to prove it he showed me the screen
Clearly showing about 10 items from number 21 (our road) followed by our address with is further down teh road but same surname (Who knew!!!)
So - clearly he has
a) not looked at the screen properly - it was very clear
b) has never heard of any privacy laws!!!

bloke standing next to him looked at the kettle in question and immediately commented
"We have never sold that kettle here EVER"
Now - me being me I had already checked and had seen that exact kettle on the display in the store AT THAT MOMENT
But, of course, he might have been mistaken but was still being rude
So I commented in a polite manner that there was actually one on display as I had just checked
He replied - in a rude tone that he had been there for ages and they had NEVER sold that kettle
so I replied in a slightly louder and far more definitive manner (ex teacher - I can do that) that there was actually one OVER THERE on the shelf
He walked off (more like stormed off) in the direction of the kettles - never returned

Anyway - back to the bloke that was actually serving me
he repeated that there was no kettle against our postcode on their system - and without that or teh receipt they would not exchange or refund anything
I confirmed that the was faulty but he inisted that there was nothing they could do
He also confirmed that his system checked anything bought from any branch - including the other one that could ahve been a possibility
he was certain of this and refused to go any further!!


So I walked out and went home

When I got home I thought to check my credit card statements online
and I found the transaction there - from 7 months ago

but from the other store near where the grandkids live (and their parents as well - obviously)

so I went there

Totally different response
WHen he couldn;t find the kettle on the postcode he tried otrher ways of searching
and found teh transaction on my credit card - I actually had the statement with me but he was trying that before I got as far as getting it out


as soon as he found it he suggested I go over to the display and see if there was one there - there was but no box - so he went 'in the back' and found one for me
and exchanged it with no bother

all quite easy and using information available to any employee on the customer service counter

all of which could have been done at the first store

a slightly modified version of this will be going to Currys - just need to find out who to send it to!

I hate Currys with a passion. Rarely had any decent after sales service when anything goes wrong. Unfortunately there is very little choice these days apart from Argos (who I also hate) or online without seeing things first.

I have a list on the noticeboard opin the kitchen of Forbidden Stores. These are establishments that have f***ed me off so severely over the years that no member of this household is permitted to shop there again. The list currently stands as...

1. IKEA.
2. Curry's.
3. McDonalds (Wolverton branch)
4. The Car Shop.

but why boycott a specific branch of McDonalds but not specific branchs of Currys etc???

Morning. Temperature currently around freezing again but going to be another lovely day. Still that pesky, chilly easterly wind to pick up again though. Think I’ll walk up and over the hill and round the loch this morning. Should be lovely.

If I wasn’t such an old fogie I would emigrate to Scotland .Looks like your getting all the good weather.
