Nothing on tv, so made some coffee and settling down with a good book titled Still Life, hope it’s dry tomorrow.

Hi to you all. Retired back in March, have started walking and short cycle rides to try and keep fit. Cannot get out of habit of getting up at silly o’clock. Finding it difficult to get into a daily routine. Hope you don’t mind me joining your group.

Welcome to the thread and hope you become a permanent fixture here. ^_^

sooo

back from kid sitting
10 year old was off school due to chickenpox - so no hugging etc
2 year old was his normal lovely self - very easy to look after as long as you keepo an eye on him and say "No No" quickly enough

6 year old came home from his SPecial School a bit early (which is an ongoing argument with the providers) but was fine
just needed some time on his own for a while (auticstic!)

anyway - all fed OK and all ate everything

then their Dad came home
within a few minutes they were unhappy and we decided it was time to go!!!

funny how they try stuff with their parents they they know they would not get away with with us????

anyway tea/dinner done
catching up on recorded stuff on SKy box

No chance of catching it from your posts?

With eight shifts to go before I finally after 51 years, hang my work boots up. I'm 'celebrating' by going camping for a few days and then return to get into a completely new routine - ! ^_^
Lots planned in the way of indoor / outdoor jobs / projects / trips both solo and with the GLW. Plenty of hobbies and interests to keep me amused, several of which could do with a bit of fine tuning - !
What I have to sort is to get this lot into a routine / order so I can keep a reasonable system going.

Both of us jointly agreed that, after a lifetime of corporate routine, routines and systems would be things that needed minimising during retirement.

Hope to see more of you in here in not too many days time. ^_^

Evening all . This is my first visit of day which was a mistake as I missed Dave r local weather forecast.
So late morning off I went to the sailing club to do some odd jobs. Sun was shining, and I got really warm doing some strimming . I finished early so thought I would trim some of the trees near the foot entrance to the club about 50m away from the clubhouse . While doing that it just started to rain , by the time I got back to the clubhouse it was belting down. Only one problem, the only coat I had with me was still in the car. I got totally soaked locking everything up 😀.

Good evening.
After forecasting rain and thunder storms all day, it has finally started to rain.
Bugger all on the telly box tonight, unless you like Europop stuff. Fortunately we have a few things recorded to fill the gap. I feel an early night coming on.

I was hoping the TV would be better somewhere else.

@simongt @phillc :welcome: and hope you stick around. Someone mentioned routine. I get that but I wouldn't use that word. I do like to have structure to my week, it's not rigid by any means but does provide a base around which to do things. Monday, Wednesday, Friday I cycle weather permitting, Tuesday is granddaughter day, Thursday morning often housework, Thursday afternoon Aldi dash and shopping, weekend wait and see what happens, could be riding, allotment, footie, community stuff, anything. I'm a great procrastinator but also like to get things done, some structure helps me with both. Without it I suspect I would spend a lot of time doing bugger all.........just my ninepennyworth.....................that's a cost of living increase

Good day and what a good day seems to be dawning mind you the forecast from 09.00 is frankly shite. We shall see. u3a committee meeting this morning followed by the weekly Drop In when folk drop in to the club house for coffee, biccies and chat. I've got allotment things to do but if it rains I'll do household chores ahead of schedule  We have great growing weather at the moment, the soil is wonderfully warm, damp to wet and temperatures are on the rise. Things are looking good. I do need to get more seed sown ASAP.

I'm going to have to shout at British Gas again, just noticed I haven't been billed for electric since January. That company really is the pits. The answer will be we don't have your reading, the smart meters are dumb (means they aren't transmitting). To which the reply will be I've been telling you this since August 2020 or 2021, can't recall but a long time, and submitting a meter reading every month since.

Also got a "discussion" going on with my pension company, not my FA. The company repeatedly fails to send payment advice, gross, tax and net details of drawdowns or P60s, all of which they are obliged to do. It's been going on for 3½ years and I've had enough. It cost me £100 with a late filing penalty last year. I've lodged a complaint and claimed £500 compensation plus £100 to cover the penalty. Three weeks since the last response which was a standard "we are sorry......." another three weeks without a reply and I can go to the Ombudsman.

This is a company whose mission statement is "We enable our partners to provide affordable solutions, and to improve the quality of retired life for every UK consumer, whatever their affluence." I can guarantee the stress of resolving this does nothing for my quality of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
