Bloody cat keeps shutting the living room door. I don’t like doors shut

There’s been just a few spits of rain. Should be ok for a wander soon but I will avoid the usual trail as no doubt it will be busy unless the thought of :rain: might keep them away.

Banging hot here in Chester.

A mooch and coffee in town centre, bit of lunch and now going to sit by the river withour Kindles.

I think I might start another book myself.

Got out for a ride - decided to risk a route I only ever do in summer as it gets very muddy and slippy when it is not very dry

It was fine - shows how little rain we have had recently - expect warnings about hosepipe bans in a month or so!

Anyway - did take a shorted route home as the ebike power levels dropped more than I expected and I was worried about running out before getting home
Hence but the motor into "Off" mode - then forgot and rode most of the way home like that - which is cool!
(for reference the rest was done on "Eco" mode - the lowest that uses the motor at all)

24.1 miles overall - not bad for me

I cycled a short 18 kms earlier as it is too hot. Planning on a longer one tomorrow as my stepson has offered to come with me on his proper bike, not the cheat one he uses to go to work when the weather allows.

Got three on the go at the moment:

The Chairman by Sir Phillip Rudd - big hitter businessman explains the true role of the Company Chairman.

Other Minds - brilliant book about Cephalapods; the second evolutionsry split that lead to highly developed minds. Ours and theirs, which is amazing as our last common ancestor was 600 million years ago. Octopuses are the nearest thing to an alien species that we have on this planet.

Centurion: fictional saga re Roman conquest of ancient Britain.

Barnet,
Good evening all.
A very good afternoon at Newmarket races with our friends.
I was putting £2.50 each way bets on, so a fiver a go.
I got two 2nd places and one winner out of 7 races. I came home with £15 more than I went in with. It was a fun day, plus the sun was shining.

Can you expand a bit on this? I find it a fascinating thought.
