Going out to an Italian restaurant by the pier, in Bangor later. We will meet up with our daughter and boyfriend and two friends. They are all walking up Snowdon today . It is years since I have been there and have no intention of going back although the scenery from the top is fantastic, provided you have a clear sky. I hope they enjoy their walk.

I took the easy way and took the train when I did it  It looks so busy on a nice day now I’m not sure I would enjoy walking it. I prefer a bit more peace and quiet on my walks.

I have walked it several times but not in recent years. I never had problems with "too many people" but I watched a news item that showed people virtually queuing to go up.......not my idea of fun.

There are a number of nice quiet hikes up, South Ridge is very quiet. Crib Goch, if you are a scrambler, is quiet early/late in the season.

A nice Plumber tale.

Some while ago I noticed a stop valve in the CH system leaking in the garage, just a slow-ish drip temporarily solved with the good old fashioned bucket underneath method.

I purchased a new valve a couple of months ago and finally got around to sorting it on Wednesday this week.

Drained the system - nice and easy job, but the header tank in the loft (it is an open system) remained full.

!**!!**!! I thought - we have a blockage.

Called a very friendly plumber and he rocked up the next day - confirmed that there was a blockage in the feed pipe from the header tank into the system itself. This he cleared, also fitted the new stop valve for me.

Just over 2 hours and a cost of... £80 + a cup of tea! Gobsmacked, I was expecting a fair bit more.

Keeping his number for future plumbing needs.

On that note, we are starting to get ready for a big trip to Canada next Saturday. Bear watching in Jasper national park, the Rocky mountaineer train from Banff to Vancouver, and a cruise from Vancouver up the west coast to Alaska. Plus lots in between.
WOW!!

we did that a few years ago for our Honeymoon - so that would be

err

errr

anyway - Banff is great - great views of the mountains and stuff - we did a few coach trips around the the area is amazing
wish we had done bear watching wheil we there there (but see later)

The train ride is out of this World - stunning everything including the stewards/attendants on the coachs

We also did the crusie - scenery is also amazing - Glacier Bay is stunning

Be warned - it takes a VERY VERY long time to get onto the ship. You have to go through US entry procedures and they are NOT efficient
take a book - or maybe 2!!

and don;t even think about smiling or making a joke - the people in the booths that "allow" you the privilege of entry into the USA take their job far too seriously and do not have a sense of humour engaged!!

Just accept it as a necessary part of the thing and heave a great sigh of relief when you get to the boat!

After that the cruise is good - if you like cruises - but anyway the scenery makes up for a lot!

Have a good one!

Oh - and I forgot what I came here to say

Got my hair cut this morning
tried to get up teh energy to cycle there (about 2 miles) all morning
but couldn't then just kicked myself off the sofa and went

went just fine - for a haircut which I hate as they put a mirror in front of you so it is the only time I ever look at myself in a mirror!!

Except that just as she started brushing the hair off and taking the cape away it started hammering down outside so hard we all thought it was hail at first!

So I ended up with wet ride home until about 100 yards from the front door!
