Morning all. It’s a grey start to the day here in South Wales but at least it’s not raining 😀 It is a little windy though.
We were hoping to go over to Caldey Island but will give it a miss due to the state of the sea . ( for someone that sails dinghy a lot I get seasick very quickly on bigger boats lol. )
So I think the plan is now to have bunch in the Tramway cafe in saundersfoot then go to Tenby in the afternoon.
Have a good day folks .

Is there? Who?

Morning. Same as yesterday. We have a brief dry spell before the rain arrives so better get out after my cuppa for a wander and some fresh air.

I remember going over to Caldey Island years ago, it was as calm as a mill pond but my now wife was still feeling very iffy.

It's great living on the edge of town. Its a bit of a culture shock for me, but im getti g along alright with it. I can walk everywhere. I can walk Mini D to big school, walk to the shop, walk to the doctors, walk to multiple pubs. Even the town centre is only a 40 minute walk, or 10 minute bike bimble. I have so little use for my car that Mrs D is taking it to work once or twice a week to keep it charged, and I may look at punting it on.

All of which leaves me scratching my head as to why so many people insist on driving all over the place for these short local journeys. Well I know why, its because they're bone idle lazy, but I still can't get my mind round it. 10 minute cities are already here, they're all around us, but people simply dont care.

Same here. I can walk to all the shops in the town as I'm sure many others could, but like you say, they would rather sit in their polluting tin boxes for ten minutes instead. No wonder the traffic around here has become so bad

I agree with you (mostly) but don't lump everyone together. It wasn't long ago that I walking 6-8 miles 3 times a week PLUS golf and cycling. Now, I doubt I can walk 1/2 mile eg I am going for a haircut now......maybe 1 mile away but I have to go in the car.

Good morning.
A tale of courier companies. Our Amazon ' Blink " outdoor camera that we use as a wildlife camera, lives at the bottom of the garden and records the various visitors, hedgehogs, cats, foxes etc. It went on the Blink a few weeks ago due to water ingress. I contacted Amazon and they arranged to send a replacement FOC. The package was sent by FedEx from Ireland and I had a link to track the progress as it made its way to me. Yesterday I got a message to say the package had been delivered, as we were travelling back from Lereds yesterday I assumed that the people working on the bathroom refurb must have taken in the packege. When we got back there was no package so I used the online help and also raised a ticket. I got a messsage to say that my package had been delivered to " Unit 1 / 2 " and signed for by ( name I don't recognize ).
As we have a normal domestic address this didn't make sense. I was going to wait until this morning before contacting them, when about 6:00pm someone rang the doorbell. It was a guy who worked on a local industrial estate and my package had been delivered there amongst a load of other packages for the business. My address was clearly on the package, so I assume the FedEx guy must have grabbed a load of packages that were addressed to the business, and mine got caught up with them.
I expect that I would have had quite a saga trying to resolve this, had not the guy who worked there dropped it off on his way home from work.

Good to know there are still some honest people, he could have just pocketed it.

There's one piece of information that I omitted from my original comment. I have a quite unusual surname ( when I moved to the area there were just two of us in the phone book, the other person being a Reverend.) I don't know the guy who brought it round, but we have the same surname. The guy from Goods Inward took it to him and asked if it was anything to do with him. Had that not been case than I may well have had a convoluted and lengthy situation to deal with.

No, absolutely. I know too well there are worthy exceptions for the elderly or disabled. Mrs D for one, although when she's feeling well enough she joins me in walking.

Sadly though the clear majority are able bodied and have no excuse beyond simple ideleness, the irony being they will end up prematurely aged or mobility restricted in later life because they won't have taken any regular exercise since leaving school.

It's raining here too. The Solar guys are rained off but the guy doing the bathroom refurb is here tiling. He showed me a few photo's of the Kitchen rebuild he's just completed in Sandbanks. Multimillionaire clients but ars*holes to work for. He said that the induction hob, cooker and fridge they chose are all WiFi linked ( you have to ask why?), and those three items alone cost more than most people would expect to pay for a complete new kitchen! What he'se even more miffed about is that his wife told him to " walk away from this one " when he was quoting for the job.
