Well, I've been diagnosed with chronic fatty liver.
It seems to be systemic rather than anything I've done as my cholesterol is pretty good and my body fat, according to the docs electronic device, is 17%. She's quite enlightened, said it was pointless relying on BMI for someone who has spent 35 years lifting weights almost daily.
It's pretty bad, but the scan I had Friday shows not too much in the way of actual damage...yet.
Some serious restrictions on my diet and the doc wants me to drop a further two stone (I've already dropped 2 since August on my own efforts) to put me around 16.
No more alcohol, ever. Not as bad as it seems, as while I liked a drink I've not been a able to imbibe for a few months due to the beta blockers and I'm doing alright.
With luck things should not worsen, and may even improve somewhat. If I don't play ball then statistically I could be needing a transplant or be dead in the 5 to 15 year range. I'm currently 55 and want to last a bit longer than 70, so I will be following orders to the letter.
Wishing you the best of luck with stabilising that. Hope you get to much further than 70 too!!!
