I'm still here, managed to walk up to the chemist today to get my perscription, it is farther than the church so should be OK for Sunday and Christmas day service.
To me it doesn't feel like Christmas, maybe I'm getting to old for this sort of thing and of course not having children/grandchildren makes all the differance,
Oh to be 50 years younger and I'll show you how to party

I've never been a party animal. My old workplace had nearly constant night outs for various reasons and they gave up asking me in the end.

I'm happier with just one or two people for company and doing something like a nice meal out and theatre or cinema or something. I've become such a recluse even that might be beyond me now.

Ventured in to small Tesco and picked up a few bottles of wine. There are two self scanning tills and a bit of a queue for the checkout with a cashier so I decided to self scan, knowing I'd need age verification for the wine. Scanned the first bottle and heard the message " Verification needed " carried on scanning the other three bottles and everything went through without an assistant comint to the till and doing the authorisation. I wondered if either A: the person on the manned till can press a button to OK the transaction remotely, or, B: knowing that these self service tills have cameas built in, they are using AI to decide that I am of the required age. In my case it would definitely be B if the screen on the till tried to sell me a funeral plan. 😁

The checkout person can ok the self service checkout from where they are. Often happens to me in the local Tesco Express.
