Good morning, blowy and wet at the moment. Daughter and grandson are heading back to Leeds shortly, the weather seems better up there so they will be driving into better conditions. Once they've set off we will do the bedding and fold up the folding bed converting the back bedroom into an office again.
Hopefully I will be able to find where I stashed the various Bromptons, 🤔
What forecast have you been listening to?
There's also major works started this week on the M62, delays expected.
Folk are getting off, when possible, and trying to find shortcuts between the roadworks, before rejoining.

Poole area to Leeds, I wouldn't e expect to touch the M62, A338/M27/A34/M40/A43/M1 at least that used to be my Friday. evening "commute" when I. worked in that area, with A1(M)/A194(M) tagged on the end to get me to South Tyneside ;)

We are approximately 100. miles North of Leeds, we have 3C, calm, drizzle, dull, frost still lingering in places.

Bonjour tout le monde. Raining here but not that cold. Molly has been walked so I think I will carry on with translating a book into French. It is 262 pages and I have done 175 so far. A friend of mine wrote it. She is very religious and I am not so it is hard work. Do you think she is trying to convert me as the book is all about religion? She has no chance of that as I have already told her so. Now for a serious question. When she asked me if I could translate it , I agreed but no mention of payment was made so what will happen when I finish it? Should I ask her for a small commission on the sales so it doesn't cost her anything? So far, she is already selling an English and Welsh version of it and the proceeds all go to her church and the work they do world wide.

I have risen!

Still feel grim. Worst Christmas ever.

Me too, but I've had worse :-
Like the time my wife chucked the Christmas tree at me
Another prolapsed disc
Having to bath my own mother after she crapped herself, the carer refused to come out again and so did my sister.......both degrading for both of us, in the evening I went for a walk and sobbed my heart out.
I've even spent New Years Eve in hospital
and have worked on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New years Eve on the Prince Abdualziz a multi million pound yacht as a security guard....stood outside all the time.
I always think next year will be better..........

Without knowing your friend, I would suspect she expects you to support her charitable efforts.

You can risk perhaps tainting your friendship, and, ask for for "commission"

or

suffer in silence and do "good works". You never know, if you (and me) are wrong about religion, and, one day you find yourself in the queue at the pearly gates, it may just get you a free pass ;)

My opinion (and I have been known to be wrong) but that should have been discussed before you started.
I once had a friend and I did quite a lot for him and his family.
One day I asked him to do something for me.......paint my house number on a plaque. He did it, no problem, then without warning, charged me.
End of a friendship and I have never forgotten it.

Bloody he'll.....just how big was your wife

It was a small tree and it's this time of year that I'm always reminded of the said event, happy days they were not.
Looking back over my sad life I think I've cried more as an adult than a child.

Barnet,
A change of plan for today. Our son, who we were going to visit has gone down with the lurgy and has messaged us to stay clear for the time being. He has a hacking cough and is coughing up gunk.
So, I've just cycled to the local shops to get a couple of things.
I'll cook a chicken, ham and mushroom pie, using all the leftovers in the fridge. There's still fresh vegetables that need to be cooked.

@numbnuts, was it you who used to do the dog sitting?
What would you have charged for a Labrador, where you were expected to buy its food?

A woman complaining that £150, for a week was too high, so it'll be going into a kennels instead.

Eek….DD is on her way to Inverness for a New Year break with pals…..
They have made it to Pitlochry for lunch - no mention of snow in our chats (she isn’t driving!)….I suspect they may get merrily snowed in once there…..all part of the adventure!

We are doing our best to do nothing after having both offspring home over Christmas….they are lovely, but exhausting: had us clearing our DVD & CD collection (93 sold to WeBuyBooks💪….about 1,000 left 🤣).

I charged £10 per day, but in them days insurance was not needed and now everybody asks "are you insured"
I stopped dog sitting when they wanted £300 plus a year for said insurance as there was no guarantee you will be employed all year
Kennel prices have always been high
