Good morning all.
It's looking a bit cloudy outside at the moment.
All the usual things to do. I will cycle up to our local hospital as I have an appointment with the vampires at 2 for some routine blood tests that the Doctor wanted done when I saw him on Friday.

I see that one place in Scotland had a record January temperature of 19.6 degrees a couple of days ago 😮

It was very mild yesterday. Back to quite chilly today and tomorrow but dry so all good.

Walk done and porridge finished. Cuppa now. I better have another walk later and take the chance of getting outdoors while it's decent. Need to wander round to the supermarket too for a few things.

Err - sorry - bit of a winge

But we had the grandkids most of the weekend - which was great

but there was a little snippet of a conversation I need to talk about to someone (my wife an I have but I need to share more)
and my username doesn;t identify me much so I'm not traveable!

anyway - I did dinner for the kids - but it was too early for me - so I did mine after the young ones had gone to bed
The 11 year old girl was still up
she wandered into the kitchen to see what I was doing and talk to me after I had finished and noticed that I had the containers from the air fryer in the sink full of soapy water
she commented "my Mum never washes our air fryer - why do you wash yours??"

hmmm
yes - I have looked at their air fryer and I can say with absolute certainty that her Mum does NOT wash the container from it
it is - to use my wife's phraseology - minging

I know the whole thing gets zoomed up to 200 degrees most days which will kill any bacteria stone dead - but it can;t be any good for them!
I mean - there has to be more dried on old fat on it than metal by now

can;t mention anything as her Mum is "rather sensitive" about anything that might possibly be even slightly critical about anything to do with the kids or her housekeeping (yes - her boyfriend (our son) does do a lot of cleaning etc but society makes it her problem in her eyes)
so I just kept my mouth shut
and she does had 3 kids one of which is SEN

BUT HONESTLY!!!

welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

For me that's a 🤮. I clean mine every time we use it.

Morning folks :okay: the sun has got his hat on tra la but the black ice might have its skates on....think i'll wait until mid day to go for a spin. Ive been wearing a groove around my 30m route over the hills and the old legs are the best theyve been so far :okay: im looking forward to travelling farther afield this year and have been browsing suitable tents for touring. I can try modest excursions just down the road and see how it goes :okay:

Make out that it decreases efficiency/increases cooking time if not cleaned after each use.

For me that's a 🤮. I clean mine every time we use it.

Exactly - the first one we had had to be chucked out because fat gathered around the element and that area could not be cleaned (I did try) - plus the element was not removable and my wife is very sensitive to - and hates - the smell of old fat
One of the things I like out our new Ninja is that I can reach behind the element - might even be able to take it off but a YouTube video from some old couple (!) showed them using a cigarette lighter to bend an old toothbrush to get in even better

Our Tefal Actifry blows the hot air through a grille and so the blower / heater are in a sealed part of the frame and so ( theoretically ) shouldn't be in contact with any of the cooking vapours. The pan lifts out and it's easy to wash it up in the sink.
We are currently looking at compact ovens as our gas oven is a bit erratic and seldom used. Quite like the look of the Sage units but need a trip to JL to see them in person. Our microwave will need replacing soon, it's a small Panasonic that was the only one we could get when our original one packed up during lockdown. I did look at the Sage " compact " Microwave but going by the dimensions listed it's much bigger than our existing one, so again a trip to JL should sort out the true size.
