Good morning folks,
A long walk to Waitrose yesterday. As I was wandering around the aisles my phone alerted me to activity in the nest box at the bottom of the garden. A blue tit was checking it out as a potential home 🤞

Very clear shot.

May I ask, was that with a your re-purposed Ring(?). doorbell camera, or, with a dedicated nest box camera?

I think I may have explained this before, but, I have a nest box which I placed according to all of the "rules" according to RSPB, four years, nothing!

My son-in-law has a nest box located beside a busy road, too low (according to RSPB), every year, he has footage to show off of a family of blue tits!

As you may detect, he annoys me intensely ;)

Back from MIlton Keynes. Took my MINI in to the dealer for a service (I live less than a mile from a BMW dealer in Northamotin, but they're crap so I don't mind the 25 minute drive.)

About two hours as there was a recall to do as well as the service, so I walked down the road to a place that does bottomless breakfasts. I'm now home and suffering acute bacon and egg poisoning.

Just as I pulled up I saw the building site manager. He's a nice guy and his lads have done a few extra jobs for me (painting, extra turf, etc) F.O.C. so it was my pleasure to give him a box of biscuits for thr lads to enjoy with their PG. I enjoyed paying a debt in kind, he was ever so thankful, the world is a sunnier, happier place for that nice piece of human interaction.

It's a " Blink " video doorbell which I got from Amazon for £35 in one of their frequent promotions, the full price is £60. The bird box is a standard box with a pitched roof the sort where the upper part of the face that contains the hole where the birds go in and out can be removed for cleaning. I slid the camera along the apex pointing downwards into the box. The photo I posted is taken from a screenshot from the video that was playing on the phone, the actual quality is a fair bit higher, and I've just checked the app and I have the video quality set to " Standard ", there's an option for high quality too. The batteries life is quoted at two years, it takes 2 AA cells, though they are " Ultimate Lithium " which cost about £2 each, but that's not an issue with such a long battery life. ( Mine have been in since this time last year and are still going strong )
I have another one which is due to be fitted to the hedgehog house that I haven't built yet 🤔
