Hello you lot

not been here for a few days - so may have missed loads of exciting stuff

or not

anyway - we have a new doorbell - the other had one ringer broken (grandkids "playing") and the battery was dead
so we got a new one that doesn;t require batteries and has a smaller profile so - maybe - won;t get broken so easily

problem is that the old push button was larger so the sticky stuff that help it onto the door won;t be totally covered by the new one
so I have been trying to get the stuff off
tried cream cleaner and flash bleach cleaner with no luck
The wisdom (!) of the internet suggests petrol , white spirit , lighter fluid or nail varnish removed (i.e. acetone) but I am worried they will start to dissolver the UPVC frame??????
and some might just burn the house down!!
anyway - someone suggested white vinegar which worked as well as sitting on the sofa and ignoring it
someone else suggested WD40 which might be worth a go - wonder if GT85 will work as well as I have loads of that??

anyway - given up for a mo witha cupps!

(when I say "given up for a mo - I mean moment - not a "well know resident of this place) - just to be clear - don;t want to start any rumours)

Think I'm going senile!
Changed the contact points on the Ajay and couldn't get a spark.
Had to dismantle the whole assembly, sit down and figure out how a coil ignition works.
I've known this stuff since I was 12 but somehow had forgotten.
One hour later and I have a spark! Yay!
Worrying how you can totally forget stuff that you used to be so very familiar with.

welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
What'll you do when spring arrives though?

Then I'll relax smug in the knowledge that i wont have to do it.
