Morning all. Another cold start to the day.
Yesterday was 'interesting' to say the least. I will condense things.
My sons birthday and his wife (as a present) took him to Bakewell, Derbyshire. She took him for a meal in a swanky restaurant and, unknown to him there were 7 of us waiting to greet him. I confess, it was quite emotional.
Bakewell itself........
It was mind blowing. A cold, wet day and it was absolutely heaving. Parking was near impossible. Shops were rammed.
Prices were astronomical but people were queuing to pay the money.
Can I give few examples.
1. The restaurant. Very good but eg fish n chips....19 quid.
2. The family wanted to go to this cafe claiming to sell 'original' Bakewell tarts. Just small tart was over 8 quid (people were queuing to get in.
3. A sweet shop shelling all old style sweets eg sherbert lemons and flying saucers etc. eg liquorice sticks.....4 for £4.50. It was a big shop and people were queuing on the street to get in. One lady I saw bought 2 large bags of assorted sweets.....I kid you not...£123.50 (not a typo, that is correct).
I got told off because I looked around and said "look at those fukcing prices".
