Woke up late - well gone 9
So by the time I had breakfast and tablets then my wife was actually up and about!!

no idea what I am supposed to be doing today!

I've de-iced the bird bath as it was frozen solid.. Earlier, there was a pigeon pecking at it as it skated around in circles.. 🐦

I would have to say yes and no to this. I feel electronic shifting itself is superior to manual. The issues I'm encountering are what I term peripheral.

Quick examples. The Shimano app fails to connect with the system at least 50% of the time. The app is needed to check battery levels.

The language used in the manual and app is difficult to understand. Some of the more technical wording I simply don't understand. The illustrations are poor.

It was only last night when I connected my Wahoo to the system I discovered the shifter batteries are worryingly low.

I could go on but won't unless someone is interested. I think this shows while the shift is great, the surrounding stuff isn't good enough. In future if a reasonable alternative is available I won't buy any Shimano product. The company has let me down.

Electronic will be pretty much standard one day, so might as well get 'with it' now.

Anything which requires me to have an App to control my bike and can disable a major function of it mid ride unless I use the App to check it (i.e. battery charge)
seems like a backward step for the average person riding their bike around for pleasure

Great for serious riders

but certainly just another thing more likely to go wrong

2025 real inflation update:

Our latest water bill is in and is up 25.1%.

Our Netflix is going up by 18.2%.

And our usual instant decaff coffee has just jumped by 13.3%.

Amazing how the headline inflation figure reads 2.5% (or thereabouts). 🤷‍♂️

Just come back from the Pharmacy - my wife was out of something urgent so I had to dash down to get it

When I got there the assistant came back with her prescription and said she had found one waiting for me while she was there

So - there it is

I am officially old

the staff in the pharmacy recognise me and know my name

I have downgraded my Netflix from ultra HD to 1080 standard, £12.99

When I went into the Co Op the other day, the coffee I used to buy has increased from £7.50 is to £9.65.

Costs they are a rising folks

There is a lot of truth in this post. I would reiterate the actual shifting is an improvement but that counts for nothing if the peripheral stuff is poor.

At 7.00am I went to three major supermarkets trying to buy CR1632 batteries so I could go on a bike ride. I couldn't find any. That's ridiculous.

Yep, 100% with you on this one. I'm considering switching to a water meter. Our bill is up 27%.
