Daughter #3 has blown the turbo on her car. Nissan rubbish.

She hasn't asked for a handout or a loan, but Mrs D is champing at the bit to bail her out.

Whereas I m disinclined - I'd never see her bankrupt, which this won't, but she drives like a loon and I've told her time and time again to slow down and let the engine warm up before opening the taps.

So Mrs D wants to give her a handout, but I don't think she'll learn the lesson if it doesn't sting a little bit. I can see this being discussed at length tonight.

Make her rebuild it herself - that'll teach her some mechanical sympathy.

Sometimes helping, isn't. They don't have to take responsibility and know that you will help them no matter what. Its hard to not help them but tough love is sometimes needed.

Every person/every family is different.
I am fortunate in that my daughter and family do a lot for me. Good job as well with my poor health and Sue passing away.
I am more than happy to help them out financially (I can't take it with me).
Grandson #2 has just bought a lovely 2nd hand car and I am just working out how best to give him the money.
