Thanks  66 today and finally get to collect my state pension.

10.4 mile walk done to celebrate. Brrrr, it was a chilly one.

A very happy birthday Mo 🎂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎂.
I just visited the totally plausible " Astrology " website to see what it has to say about people who are born at this time of year, and this is what it has to say:

After a month of so much excitement, the sun moves into Taurus and suddenly the vibe mellows out and our natural rhythm slows a few notches. As the days warm, we now take the time to stop and smell the roses and see the flowers bloom. We are now under the spell of pleasure goddess Venus, when touch, smell, taste, sound, and sight deepen and reach their highest expression.

Our five senses are reawakened, reenergized, and refocused on our appreciation of nature, art, and all things beautiful. Being one of the most sensual signs, the nocturnal energy of Taurus loves rest and relaxation, which, of course, can sometimes make us a little lazy
.

I'm not a gravel expert but I'd have thought 84 miles is way above 100 on road. Much more tiring and concentration needed.

On the last gravel ride we rode for 7:19 at an average of 11.3mph. I used to be able to ride a century with an average of 16+ so about 6:15 to 6:30 hours.

I'll wait and see but I'll be happy to average 13.5 on road, though I suspect it will be faster.

Gravel riding is largely about endurance. It doesn't bother my legs too much but the overall impact on the body is very tiring. On the technical stuff, and we don't do much of that, concentration is high but mostly we just chat and ride along. The times when it's mentally tough are loose gravel descents and for me, strangely, canal bridges. No amount of bell ringing can ensure someone isn't about to walk round the corner 🤣 I know people who have done the long, wet ride home with a waterlogged phone!!!! 😱

Blimey, it's a chilly day today, about 12⁰'s cooler than a few days ago. MrsP and the cats are not happy.
We have had a couple of heavy rain showers in the last hour, and the sky still looks like it could deliver some more.
Currently watching the snooker final, I used to be an avid watcher and player but kind of lost interest about 10 years back.

I’ve stuck it on too. Shame Mark Williams has gone off the boil so much after playing so well in the semi final.

Bonnie has been bathed.. Oatmeal shampoo this time 🐶

Just spent ages putting sand in the weights for the patio umbrellas
They are the sort that go out sideways ona cantilever thingy
and so need a lot of weight to hold the base down

WHich is easy - just stick a hosepipe in and fill the weights with water
until you notice that the area is getting very wet and realise one or two have sprung a leak

butthat is fine because the instructions say they can alos be filled with sand
in fact sand is better cecause it is heavier

OOOOOK

so I got some sand and tried to put it in
need a funnel - so I made one from an old plastic bottle
but it just clags up and won't fall into the weight
after several experiments and attempts I have come up with a system with 2 different funnels

but it still takes AGES

I think maybe a different type of sand was needed and this is too claggy - and.or wet!!!

Maybe sand sold as Playpit Sand? 🤔
