Headed up the trailway and over the wibbly wobbly footbridge towards Wimborne before heading back to find some shelter from the sun☀️. Met Mrs Tkk out on her Brommie heading for Cowgrove and the egg lady to pick up supplies. Ankle started playing up and I had to hobble the last few miles ☹️. I stuck an ice pack on it and self medicated with half a tub of ice cream😁

There is a risk of thunderstorms tomorrow, there are already warnings of traffic and railway disruption on the news.
Rails expanding/stretching due to the heat, buckling. They normally lay them on days of average temperatures. And they contract and expand with the heat. Continuously welded rail doesn't cope very well the extremes, compared to the old fashioned rails joined with fishplates. Which had a slight range of movement to cope with this problem.

There were expansion joints every mile or so to take up the expansion or contraction of the rails. There still is but a totally different design due to most of the railway now has flat bottom rails instead of Bullhead.

Just back from a a very long day in London, we met my daughter (who lives in Wimbledon) and had lunch at the Barbican

We then walked to the Sky Garden which was spectacular

And then to Tower Bridge where we walked along the top walkway and were lucky enough to see the bridge open.

Home now, completely exhausted but so glad we did it, the weather was amazing it was like a summer holiday in one day!

Great day out! I took granddaughter to Tower Bridge while it was opening for a sailing ship.
Have you been to Horizon22? Wonderful views across London and free, too, unlike The Shard!

We have had CWR in Oz for some time and it seems to do ok in 40C and higher temps.
