Morning. Up early again and will have a longer walk while it is quiet. I should really be cycling but the enthusiasm for that has vanished again.

Cooooeeee. Well what a night that was and not in a good way. I had.to listen to rally cars bombing up and down the lane and main road for 3 hours. The Dovey rally car group was having a pre planned rally. Them I heard the birds twittering away as soon as it was light, and then I heard a freaking pheasant jumping up and down in the roof. It's still prancing around up there. If I had had the gun handy I would have shot the dam thing by now. So here I am sitting here.

A mixed.night as I could drift off easily but then was wide awake after an hour. It was like that all night.
A chill day in store for me.

A rain storm of epic proportions yesterday afternoon and evening. Poor souls at the Wimborne Folk Festival must have been drenched, especially those on the camping site. We're off there this afternoon, weather is looking better.

Speaking of camping. We've just been to see The Salt Path starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. An excellent film. Highly recommended.

Watched it last week with a couple of friends. The scene with the tent and the torrential rain struck a chord, I walked it in 2007, set out on 28th of May and walked through what was at the time the wettest June in living memory 🌧️🌧️. Arrived back to Poole on 4th July, great way to lose 10kg 🤔

Good morning. A beautiful day has dawned. A less beautiful Paul has risen. A poor night's sleep. I have some chores to do, allotment work and must fit in a walk and nap. I think the walk is important as I felt quite bloated and restless last night.

Morning again. Not long back a 9 mile pleasant wander.

It’s gorgeous here at the moment. Perfect for our local marathon which starts at 9am.

Lovely sunny day in prospect albeit a bit of a breeze. Bike ride is on cards, just need to sort a route so I don't get a brutal ride home into a headwind whilst still not repeating same roads I've already done a 1000 times.

Well, they cancelled the Senior TT due to weather conditions.
When did people become so risk averse?
Folk on FB seem to be of one opinion; which is - 'Safety First'.
I've answered several of them by stating that if safety is the priority then the whole event should be cancelled, as riders get injured in perfect conditions.
Just waiting for the mob to pile on now.....

Isle of Man TT you are referring to and come on, that event is dangerous enough as it is so given high winds and gusty nature it was the right call. It was called off because a lot of the riders had concerns, it wasn't done without consultation.
For what it's worth I couldn't comprehend riding around it at half the speed those guys do, I really don't think they are risk averse.

I'm a former TT and MGP rider.

So you should know the risks better than anyone and be understanding of the riders decision. A wet track and windy increases risk by a significant amount.
I'll add imagine the scenario though if race went ahead after majority of riders(as reported) had mentioned concerns about the weather and road conditions and subsequently there was a bad crash resulting in serious injury or worse.
Aside from actual incident, the repercussions could be terminal for the event.

Anyway, I'm not wanting to argue that's for sure. I just think whilst our world is often seemingly over run with Health & Safety rules and regulations that are baffingly, in this instance it was the right call in my opinion anyway.
