Good morning. Off to pick up the children's bike I won in the auction. A friend is giving me a lift so I won't have to try and cycle it back 😁.
Mrs Tkk and I are feeling a bit traumatised following yesterday's trip to the Dentist. A bridge and 3 implants quoted at £13,000 😮 We're both NHS dental patients but evidently the necessary work isn't covered. Certainly be shopping around as that's my State pension for a year 🥲

My daughter has a similar problem with her bridge.
She needs an op but, as you say, it's not covered on NHS.
Her op will cost  her me over £5,000.

Talking of unusual food mixes.....as I've said my son is a chef and as he owns the place he is always coming up with new ideas.
I am old fashioned with food so yesterday was a struggle when he brought me** grilled sea bass with grilled pineapple.
**my daughter and family are away and she has arranged for him to stay with me for a week.

Morning.
Overcast and breezy.
Tip run then opticians for eye test later this morning. Just the bi-annual check up although a few days ago cutting back the hedges etc I got something in my eye which was maddenly irritating. I couldn't see anything in there(excuse pun) but blimey it was unpleasnt. Anyway, all seems fine but this a good opportunity to get it looked at. As it happens I was wearing safety glasses at the time as well, I'm not the most H&S person when I do DIY etc but some things I do adher to and eye protection is one of them.
Weights session later I think.
First, coffee!

We were supposed to pick the kids up from school - grandkid 3 plus his cousin

but all has changed and apparently grandkid 2 is doing a "Pride" parade at his Special School this afternoon and wants some to come and watch

his Mum and Dad are working and he asked if we could go as Plan B

pretty good for him - he is autistic and tends to avoid speaking to us - especiall his Gran - if possible
unless he is staying here in which case he is fine and friendly and loves his Gran reading stories
and going for walks with me

it is vert pleasing that he chose us as plan B rather than his other grandparents
he also asked for us to take him home after school rather than going home on "his bus" as usual
he doesn;t like change so we were expecting him to want to use the bus!!

anyway that is this afternoon sorted

Barnet,
There is a meeting of the escape committee this afternoon at the Railway Bell, i hope they have a better ale selection than last week, too many 5% and dark ales, or we will have to move to the Mitre.

I got no problem with pride. My oldest daughter prefers the company of ladies, so to speak, and that has never been a problem for me.

But why is it rammed down our throats with marches? Where are are the parades for us middle aged bald Jewish blokes? Why the absence of parades for accountants or golfers? All very strange.

This is how I feel too. Be what you want to be, but stop preaching about it.

Shame we can't do politics here as it's a rainy out there and we could have had fun filling the day discussing u-turns and climbdowns! ^_^

Indeed.
However I must ask again as I don't think you replied to my earlier comment about why the politics thread is not moderated? Is there a reason for that. I can only assume it's so bad that every other post would be removed. Note I haven't even looked as pointless if it's a free for all and just abuse but I was wondering.
